Getting Closer!

Hi! My wife and I are in the market for a car and I just about convinced her that a new Mini is the way to go. We test drove a couple of used MC's, manual and auto and loved the handling and the quality. I am taken with the Clubman for it's unique look and added storage.

We are headed to Baron in KC this week to try to find something we can both live with. I have not driven a Clubman yet OR an S but I understand that the big decission is: "To 'S' or not to 'S'" We know we want the premium and cold weather packages.

My multi part question to the forum is: What things are 'must haves', 'not required', 'watch out for' and 'wish I had or hadn't'. I'm sure this will stir up a lot of comments all covered in previous threads but I hope it can help guide me to a happy purchase.

Hope to join you all soon talking about MY new Mini!

Curtis

Must have sunroof, Manual trans, "S", Automatic air cond., Cold weather pack, convenience pack, it all adds up too quickly. The leather can be sweaty ie your clothes will stick to you from sweat. 6sp auto is good in "s" model if you must, there is a switch to put in sport mode but I opted for manual trans. This is my second cooper. Some opt for limited slip diff. many color combos.

Done Deal

Well we did it, last night we made the deal for a new Clubman off the showroom floor.(Yea, no waiting!!) It is Pepper White roof & body w/ Silver C pillars & hood stripes. It has a Hot Chocolate fabric & leather seating, piano black trim w/ cream color line accents. It looks great! Premium, cold weather and sport packages and an OEM roof rack.

The roof rack was almost a deal breaker b/c they told me it could not come off, or if it did there would be metal mounts sticking up. We found the box in the boot with the instructions that indicated how to remove it and we had a deal. Luckily I had just read on this forum how to install and remove the rack so I knew more about it than the sales manager. It will come in handy at somepoint but could not handle it for every day driving.

Looks like I will be changing my name, "got-a-mini"?
