R/T and Phone Buttons on Steering Wheel

Looking for Info on the R/T and Phone Buttons on the Steering Wheel.........If these are wired in, what else is needed to make them work?......What is needed to use my cell phone through this feature?....Is the "Slotted/Oval Shaped" area to the right of the upper front map lights a speaker/microphone? If these questions have already been answered in the forum somewhere else please let me know and I'll look there......Otherwise any additional info is helpful

R/T??

The "Phone Buttons" and Radio Control Buttons only mean that you have a Multi-Function Steering Wheel.

Did you order the car with the Phone Integration??

Check your Manual you should have a separate booklet with the Phone Instructions.

Good Luck!!

I think you need the USB/Blue Tooth option for those things to work. If you have that, there's a thread that lists all of the phones that seem to work here:

If you don't have the USB/Bluetooth option, I think it can be installed at your dealer, but there's no telling what it will cost you.

Good luck!

They are wired in, but you will need the bluetooth option to make them work. If I remember it is about 1200 USD from BMW. There is no USB option for the 1st gen, that is only a second gen option.

That being said, Mikey at www.newministuff.com sells a Parrot EVO kit that will also work and does use the R/T button to release the call. It is a good kit and works well. I have been using it for about 2 years now.
