Pick up at VDC?

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if any of you have made arrangements to pick up your MINI at the VDC, rather than waiting to have it shipped from the VDC to your dealer. I'm not asking because I'm *that* impatient -- we will just be delivering my husband's car to someone, and will be much closer to the VDC.

My car is currently on a boat, and we have about 10 days before it's scheduled to arrive at port. Just trying to figure if I have a chance of being able to pick it up at the VDC rather than having it shipped to my dealer first. I wouldn't think the dealer would agree to that, but wondering if there is a chance.

Is that an option? Mine has been at the port for almost a month now - just waiting for a truck (so they say). I'd love to go rescue my mini.

No pickup at the VDC. That would be rather inefficient eh?

I'm almost positive you have to take delivery at a dealer - now maybe you could swing doing it at a Charleston dealership . . . Of course, if you have any dealer-installed options they have to be installed at your dealership.

Yeah, the financial arrangement is actually with your MINI dealer, not with MINI corporate, so your dealer has to take the car, prep it, and then handle all the title and registration paperwork, etc... I don't think any of that would be possible at the VDC.

That's awful! If that happened to my MINI, I would be concerned that it has been damaged in transit, and it is waiting for repairs, or something like that. They typically do not spend more than a few days to a week at the VDC... from what I have read.

Thanks, everyone. That's what I figured. I may see if there is any way they could send it to a Charleston or nearby dealership if I take care of the financial arrangements at my dealer before I leave. But I don't see that happening.

PM DanceForMini. MINI got delivered to the WRONG VDC and it has been there for 19 days while BMW corp and the dealer try and figure out what to do.

Based on that, i doubt you will have much luck rerouting your mini.

Not only that but you also can't get around the teamsters. That would be impossible. Remember the destination charge is added and that goes partially to them.

And I actually asked the same question and my MA explained the whole deal. To slow things down, the drivers can only drive so many hours a week so if they reach their limit the MINIs don't move...
