Clubman "On Order" and I can't wait!
Hello All,
I'm ordering a Pepper White Clubman, black roof, black pillars and mirrors. It will have no stripes, yet. I've seen a few aftermarket people doing this that I'd like. But I want to get a feel for the car first. I've opted to not have any invisible "bra" on the front as it looks a bit yellow to my eye on Pepper White, and I may get mudflaps, but haven't decided.
What I will get is 6-speed manual, HD Radio, NAV, Convienience, Winter, and Performance packages, all-season tires, cream interior with English Oak. (Can't get the wood wheel with Convienience, or I would), front & rear fog lamps, Xenon headlamps w/ washer, Anthracite Headliner, chrome line interior, and alarm system.
I am not getting Sirius (which I could add later w/o lifetime subscription, if desired), and Park Distance Control, because I've already spent too much.
It's funny, when you go looking at cars, you see other people driving the cars for the first time. As of 4 weeks ago, I was dimly aware that such things as MINIs existed, but never considered replacing my Montero Sport SUV with one.
But, now I've changed my mind! There's enouogh room for most things I'll carry. I even rented an '06 cooper, in Pepper white, to see how it worked. I then stuffed all the stuff I use for the weekend in the country I take with my girlfriend each year. If that stuff fit, and it did, then my normal commute will be a breeze...I even went to Home Depot, and got 10 bags of mulch and loaded it in the rental. It was tight, but it worked.
I now see MINIs everywhere. I'm like that kid in "The Sixth Sense" except I say "I see MINI people"! I've seen a few silver ones lately, as well as one silver and one Pepper White Cooper in the parking lot at Whole Foods in my home town. There's an '04 Cooper, Red w/ white roof, down the street from me...in fact, this car got its inspection sticker today, 2 cars behind me getting mine!
I'm glad to see all you helping each other. I'd also like to thank the moderators and SYSOPs that keep this board running! Good Show! I'll hope to contribute myself, once I have more research (i.e. Motoring in my new R55).
I was able to get one of the dealer's allocations at MINI of the Hamptons. That is, one of the cars the dealer would have ordered from MINI for a normal order. This allows the car to be built right away...in about 2 or 3 more weeks.
The dealers in Mass told me it would take until November to get a new car. I'll have mine by Aug 15th or so.
I may have a few days to change my mind on options, so I've been trolling the boards for people's opinion of the PDC or Sirius. At least I can add Sirius. I can't add a PDC, unless it's a undocumented feature...I guess that's one of the things I'll look into.
Have a good 4th of July Motoring! I've so jealous! I may rent that '06 MINI again this weekend!
Cheers,
Larry

Hi,
Thanks, yes that's a good question. I keep thinking that DSC is standard on the Clubman. Let's look at the brochure that is now all ratty from me carrying it evereywhere !
On page 6 of the glossy brochure, it says "...Fitted as standard, Dynamic Sability control (DSC) counteracts vehicle instability..." So, I belive I did get it. You had me nervous there for a while. It's like, there was another traction-type thing on Cooper Convertables, called...what, ASC, yes ASC? Which stands for Automatic Stability Control. I should look and see what the difference between these two are!
Thanks again!
