Ted's (MINI will be) so blue... Oxy Blue, that is!
Awwww, Ted.
What a sweetie.
I neglected to mention in the OB thread that in addition to Baxter, the Golden Retriever, we also have Cooper, The Boston Terrier. I hope he doesn't get confused or (worse!) jealous when the new one arrives!

Not that you wouldn't have had to oblige us before wannab, but now you must post pictures! Ted wants to see Baxter and Cooper! I bet as long as Cooper's in the Cooper, he'll be just fine.
Boy, talk about a carful of dog energy; I think you'll have your hands full with that team!

Baxter really has it rough. We work him to the bone!
And Cooper has his Dad wrapped around his little paw! He was holding his Frosty Paws for him!
Oh, I'd HAVE to agree!
Those are some fine-lookin' dogs wannab!
Ted noticed that they seem to have a pretty rough life. She's looking up the 800 number for ASPCA as we type. Said she'd be sending it to Cooper & Baxter post haste ...

Unfortunately...Ted hasn't been in her MINI for a while...
We've had storm after storm and even I haven't been in Ted's MINI for a while. But, it's been a while since I posted a pic of her, so here she is on her MINI bed, waiting for her next adventure...
Cooper and Baxter will soon be enjoying MINI adventures, too!We had a pretty bad ice storm over night, but we managed to fare pretty well. Lots and lots of folks all around us are without power and expect to be for days.
All I could think is how awful I'd feel driving my new MINI around in this slick slop!
Yeah, from what I've seen, that storm was a doozey! Glad you're all doing well and hope those that are in bad straits have power restored soon. We have a lot of Amish around here; sometimes I think they have the right idea (but then I get in tedscar and I'm not so sure...
)
Oh, and Ted is eagerly expecting pictures of Cooper and Baxter in your new O2B!

Ted's still having fun!
Well, I first posted back in the spring of '08. At that time, 'ted' the terrier was facing a Cushings Disease diagnosis and I didn't know if she'd (yes, she) live long enough to see the MINI I ordered based on her specs.
I'm pleased to report that ted's still at it. Today, we took her out when we went snowshoeing and she had a blast. I don't know if it's the medication she's on (both for Cushings and blood pressure) or old age, or what, but she really seems to like the cold. She never used to be that way; she'd get out in it and at probably less than 30 degrees, she'd start shivering. Now she gets along great in the cold (but she still sleeps happily on the couch). I am thrilled she's still here with us, showing us the importance of THIS moment. And I look forward to another MINI adventure with ted in the near future!
Here's a picture of ted enjoying the snow, wearing the hunter orange collar my sister knitted (that has a nice accent of Oxygen Blue knitted into it, but it's hard to see in this picture).

We took Ted back to her favorite park tonight. The gate was locked, so we had to climb the hill. This isn't the best picture, but since I haven't posted one in a while, I thought I'd show you Ted and her MINI.
She's looking at you like, "HELLOOO, let's get back to my CAR PLEASE!?"
I miss my little buddy!
It has taken me two weeks to post this and I may still not get through it. We had to say goodbye to our beloved little terrier. Ted's Cushings disease finally caught up to her and it was clear she needed us to do one very humane, but heart-wrenching thing for her.
After 16 years (11 that I was fortunate enough to be a part of) Ted made it clear she was at risk of catastrophe and we could not risk it anymore. Fortunately, she was not in crisis at the time. Even more fortunately, our vet accommodated our request that he do his part outside in the lawn behind his office. Ted left us on a great breeze, in the shade of some nice trees, with us holding her in our arms.
She was a special little dog who holds a huge part of my heart. I am grateful for all the wonderful times with her and so glad she got to help break-in the MINI with us.
I miss her like crazy
, but smile just a bit when I get in the MINI and see the checkerboard dash I got in her honor (tribute to her spirit and her black & white coloring). Here's a picture from many years ago of Ted and her sister running across a field. It's not the best image, but it's classic Ted, doing what she loved long before Cushings disease took it's toll on her.

Oh, sweetie, I'm so glad you told us.
I was wondering how she was doing.
We've talked about this before, and it's not easy...but it's not supposed to be. You gave her a great life, and I'm positive (especially from all the pictures) that she enjoyed every single darn minute of it.
You should be proud of yourself, and cherish the memories without regret.
I'm sorry, kiddo.

Ohhh, I am sorry incredibly sorry and the tears just started streaming down my face when I read your last post about Ted. I know how hard that final decision is but it takes bravery and selflessness to put their needs before our own.
I am so happy that Ted was able to enjoy your MINI with you and that you'll always have the memories of the motoring time together. Ted will always hold a special place in my heart. Take care of yourself and continue to let us know how you're doing. Big Hugs!!

I'm Heart Broken reading your last Tribute to Ted. May she live on the Wings of Dogdom Angels and always be riding in a MINI!!
Our beloved 4-legged companions (I have one looking at me right now) are a gift from God, even though I remind her everyday that I "rescued" her. Sadie and Rosey send their condolences and may the memories of Ted bring you peace!!

My condolences about Ted...after reading all the posts about this amazing dog, I always felt like she was the unofficial mascot of the OxyBlue Owners Club - everyone knew how special she was and how much she loved her MINI!
She will be sorely missed - hang in there, and please keep us posted on your continuing MINI adventures. Remember Ted is still here in spirit!

Kim,
This is a really great thread; sorry I didn't see it sooner. I felt very priveledged to get to know Ted (and you and Jill!) personally, and share donuts with her on a couple of occassions. I think the donuts is what kept her going as long as she did! She was a very charming, loving dog, and will always be in our hearts. When you told me of her passing, I cried, and I know that you are still struggling with it to this day. You should take comfort in the fact that you made her life so wonderful, and that she enriched yours so much as well. You have honored her memory in so many touching ways. Aren't animals great?

Thanks PepperMINI. Your tribute to Ted and our world is very touching (I really enjoyed seeing her section of your scrapbook--have to see the rest some time
). Nice day today; next time we'll have to take the backroads. I'll try to make sure we have good weather for the 2nd Annual MINI gathering at Letchworth in September. Ted says 'Bring on the donuts!'

Aw, don't you think that the thruway is scenic? It definitely keeps you awake with all of the stunt drivers out there, that's for sure! We ended up taking a detour and going to my mom's house (it's her birthday today), and visiting her two new kittens, and getting a bit bruised by my nephew. Great day!
Oh! I get it now:

I help people say their last goodbyes to a lot of special canine family members and it's never easy. I'm so glad you vet was able to give Ted (and her family) such a compassionate farewell.
Sunday was excellent fun. I'm glad Ted could be there.

Thanks BeeArrGee. Great picture of our shrine on Sunday. This loss is one of the hardest I've ever had but Sunday was all about enjoying her sense of fun and adventure. Glad you were a part of it!
