Well, I'm here!
Well, I'm here!
Alright guy's, last week I was enjoying a beautiful day down on campus in my pride and joy, a 1993.5 Infiniti G20 that I was building to be a weekend race car. I had just completed putting in a brand new alternator 2 days before and this was the first time taking it beyond the block. I also just got my big brake kit switched over from my other g20. All of the sudden, from the right hand side I saw a Chevy Tahoe flying down the alleyway. He completely blew the stop sign going about 35 mph. I had maybe 10 feet to stop, which didn't happen. I slammed into him going about 25 mph which totaled my car, ruining all of of the European parts I had spent years searching for.
Anyways, the car was a complete loss, I ended up getting screwed on my wheels, bumper, lights, grill, and brakes. This was my first accident ever, and it had to be in my baby with all the expensive parts on it and not my daily grinder Subaru.
Since I am graduating from college I wanted a car that I didn't have to worry about and would let me concentrate on starting my career as a turf specialist as well as starting up my photography business. After test driving numerous cars I decided to try out the Mini at a local dealership. Up until then I had only been look at sports sedan's but I had always loved the styling of the Mini Cooper, so I gave it a shot. I took it for a spin and immediately fell in love. That particular model was not in the best of shape, but I was hooked and searching all over for some cars. Saturday night I stumbled upon a car owned by a lady in Cleveland. It had the Sports and Cold weather packages and only had 17,000 miles on it. It turns out the only reason her and her husband were selling the car was because the baby seat wouldn't fit in the backseat. I immediately jumped on the opportunity and cut a check shortly after my test drive.
Now I am the proud new owner (as of Sunday) of an 06 Mini Cooper S with the 6-speed.
For now, here is a picture from the for sale thread. I can't wait until next weekend when I am all done and graduated and can spend some time on a full blown photoshoot of the new car. I might be able to pull a quick one off on Friday, but I'm not sure.

The plans are... well there aren't any plans. If any mods happen in the future it will definitely be some springs, shocks, and a couople bars. Later down the road I would like to install an LSD, I/H/E and then think about upping the boost. The time frame is a matter of years, certainly not months.
I am coming from an amazing online community and can already tell that I will feel right at home here. I hope to nestle in and do some reading up on my new car! Just as a fair warning, I'll probably bombard the forums with my pictures as I tend to do that.
And for the sake of the thread, here are two pictures of my car I took last Friday before she died. :(

And the aftermath

Thanks for reading! See you in the forums!

Welcome to NAM from Middle Georgia Minis!! I'm sorry to hear about your other car. I hope your MINI gives you many trouble free miles and lots of new adventures. BTW you have excellent taste in color selection. Every one on NAM likes pics so keep em coming.
A shame your car got totaled after you'd put so much work into it, and finding those European parts. And all because some twit blew through a stop sign.
We lost our '94 Volvo a year ago when a guy ran a red light and tore off the back bumper and turned our car 360 degrees. My wife was driving back home at the time and was not hurt. The Volvo had 260,000-plus miles on her. To replace it, my wife got a BMW 328xi which she fell in love with as soon as she took it for a test drive. Tis black with gray interior. Classy. Powerful.
I'd always wanted a MINI so I got an '07 chili red with white roof, white racing stripes on the bonnet, with the dealer throwing in checkerboard graphics on the sunroof and mirrors. Ditto on the test drive, especially after I did the doughnut. A pugnacious car, the MINI.
Have much fun motoring your MINI. Best car on the roads.

Sorry to hear about the Infiniti, I just picked up a MCS Electric Blue with sport, premium and cold weather packages with 11k miles on it. Same situation, having a third kid and the MINI only fit 4 people. My wife and I would not be happier. I will post pics soon.
Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm sure I'm not the only one to be in this position before. I can't wait to learn more about the Mini, it already is impressing me with all the nifty little knick knacks.
