I JUST GOT MY MCS 5/23/08, AND LOVE IT! BUT THE 1200 MILES OF BREAK IN WILL BE THE HARDEST OF MY LIFE. WHAT I'M WONDERING IS, IF THERES A WAY TO TURN OFF THE AMBIENT LIGHTING, AND DIM THE DASH LIGHTS MORE. I LIKE THE COCKPIT DARK WHEN I DRIVE. THANKS, BRG08.

 

you should be able to hold the little button on the tach, on the left side, the others the Trip reset if i am remembering correctly, and it will dim the dash lights, as for the ambient lighting it cant be turned off, i dont think? its been about ten months sence i'v driven a mini, short version of the long story, had one, involved in car accident , had to wait ten months, getting new one tomorrow

 

Set the ambient to orange and dim the lighting (hold the button on the lower left on the tach) as far down as it will go. It gets pretty dark.

 

Tapping the button on the left side of the Tach will dim the Gauge Lighting, Holding it down will Brighten the gauges. I do not think there is a way to turn off the Ambient Lighting...Hubby & I think this is a pretty COOL feature. Sorry if you find it annoying.
