Purchasing accessories before you receive your MINI

Since I value everyones expertise and experience, I was curious to know what owners here have bought prior to picking up their MINI. Any recommendations you feel are a must?

(So far I've been taking the detailing supplies route)

Since Storage is a big Deal for my Husband and myself, we purchased the Glove Box Storage unit, the Center Console Storage Mat and Center Console Storage Shelf from OutMotoring.com. Molded Floor Mats from Weathertech.com. The Boot Liner from Rasmussen MINI, where we purchased our Beloved Molly!! Our Detailing Products we purchased from Detailer's Paradise.com.

Good Luck!! There is a numerous list of goodies for these little things, you CANNOT go overboard however!!

Well I haven't bought much actually FOR the MINI itself, but I did buy a 7 foot by 8 ft MINI racing flag to hang in the garage, as well as a MINI COOPER ONLY parking sign for the garage!

I'm thinking about purchasing a badge for the grill soon though. Not sure if I'll get it before my MINI actually arrives though (crossing my fingers...)

So far, I've gotten the glovebox tidy and no-holes front license plate bracket from gominigo. I like them both.

I pick up Cooperlitos tomorrow.
I will have for him the following:
2 sets of magnetic stripes
1 set of magnetic race numbers - "02"
custom license plate frame - "MINI COOPERLITOS"

I didn't want to get carried away until I have my MINI.

Well I know they're going to throw in floor mats for free...so I don't have to worry about that.
I don't want to go over board with buying stuff!
I'm probably going to go ahead and order the 'no holes FLPB' but I'll have 30 days after I take ownership to do that since I'll have temporary tags.
(That's another advantage of buying my MINI from PA instead of Ohio.)

I inquired about the mats at my dealer and he said they do not come with the car; although I can pick them up for $100 from their dealership. :( Anyway, I purchased a motoring badge, and a short antenna for my MCS which I am picking up on Friday after about 7-weeks of waiting.

I also want to get a black shorty antenna, and mud flaps. Want vs Need, are they the same thing at this point? I could easily go overboard!

I ordered carpet floormats, a rubber boot mat, the installation kit for the portable Garmin Nuvi navigation unit and some lighted door sills for my Mini from Classic Mini/BMW in Ohio. They offered a 20% discount if you mention you are a NAM member. The parts shipped out last week and should be waiting for me at my door when I get home with my Mini tomorrow. Saved a ton of money even with shipping costs.

I eased into it. I did have the dealer install clear sidemarkers and graphics.

I never thought of doing 303 on the fabric seats... I just sprayed a whole bottle of it on mom's convertible top. Hmm... something else to add to my next DP order.

I 2nd the Zaino kit though - love the stuff! Use with all the microfiber from DP and you'll have one shiny MINI!

Wow RussKeys, your MINI gets delivered tomorrow?! Do you think you'll be able to sleep tonight?

If it's relevant to your state get a No Holes License Plate Bracket from GoMiniGo.com, and tell your dealer not to drill holes in the front bumper.

I purchased the following:
LightNSight
Lamin-x lens protection - 40 mil clear
2 inch short antenna
Center console tidy
Glove box organizer
The big kit from Detailer's Paradise
Water squeegee
Califorina Duster
3rd Brake Pulsar - 2nd gen
Kuda Mount for Nuvi 660
New hose attachment for wheel cleaning

From the dealer I got the driving lights, MINI Cooper S illuminated door sills, front/rear/boot mats. And soon to be added the remainder of my chrome line interior for the door speakers

Well there's the stuff I'm getting before the MINI and the stuff that's coming with the MINI. The dealer things that are coming with the MINI are Badge, Checker Door Handles, Checker Mirror covers (inside and outside), Carpet floor mats, Rubber Boot Mat. The floor mats & boot mat are the freebie that our dealer tosses in. The mirror covers will be installed by the dealer for free, but because there's so much work in the door handles, I'll be doing those myself. The dealer won't install the checker door handles for free and the bill will be over $600.

I'm also in the process of designing a real cup holder. The big cup holders of the past don't fit our '08s and the console cup holders are only really good for cans. Bottles sort of fit. But the monster 32 oz drinks don't.

$600! I would be taking on doing the installation myself too!

We haven't talked about it much in this forum, but y'all should get involved with your local club if you aren't already. Our club has a nice relationship with one (well both actually) of the local dealers. We have mod days at the Dallas dealer a couple of saturdays a year. I've already spoken with one of the mechanics and he knows my skills level. He estimates about 4 hours per door and he's usually there to give guidance so he said I can do it (with his help). Gonna save me $600+.

Ah.. I think I was quite restrained:

before I got the car:
* actual size decal and stripes
* 4" stubby
* motoring badge holder and badges
* new Garmin
* sunroof sunscreens

Day of:
* floor mats/boot mats
* travel mug, sunshade and keychain were freebies

Dealer installed: roof rack and clear bra

Then, of course, I also got a new car seat and stroller because they fit a bit better in the MINI.

Looking further down the road, I know I'll need snow tires, and a different set of wheels to mount them on...

(I'd like to get black wheels, but so far anything I've come across has been too nice for winter)

Before arrival, I'd picked up a ScanGauge II, Nuvi 660 and Kuda mount, a new maglite, and an I-don't-trust-runflats kit (plugs and a compressor).

Been holding off on cleaning supplies until a friend has time to detail the car; I'll take his recommendations.

It's in the shop today, FINALLY getting the roof rack installed -- they're also taking care of the dent they put in the driver's side door.

I've been really busy for the last month, since the car arrived; things will ease up some after next weekend, so I might have some time to have fun!

Cheers--
