****QUESTIONS****
****QUESTIONS****
Hey guys and girls first post
I have been online looking and at the dealership so many time this week!!!
My brother is ordering a cooper clubman this Friday and now I want the MCS.
I talked my girlfriend into a MCS last year and she loves it and I love to drive it.
So my questions are
1. I want the JCW aero kit but don’t understand how it works if I add it on when I order the car, do I have still have to pay to get it painted and installed? have any dealers done the install for free or always charged? Can I do the install myself/has anyone done it on thier own? Also is it worth the extra cost now to get the kit or get it later or something diffrent?
2. JCW suspension yes or no? And if I do get it will that be installed at factory or dealer? I have done suspension in all my BMWs and its no problem, could I install this kit myself? Is the JCW kit worth it or aftermarket better overall for cost and effectiveness (lowering and cornering)
so I would like to stay around 28k to 30k (in college and don’t want huge payments) but was told to look at the JCW factory car (guessing its $$$$$$) but have not been able to find any set prices on them and my dealer will not say much yet. Will it be worth the wait for the JCW car or can I get a better performer out of a stock MCS and mod the heck out of it.
Let me know what you guys think as I would like to order this Friday at the same time brother orders his

As far as the JCW aero kit goes: you will still have to pay for the painting and install. My dealer quoted me $2500 total including the install and painting.
I decided mine was worth getting at the time of purchase instead of later. My concerns were with paint matching after the car has been out in the weather for a while. Not sure how founded this concern is, but it was enough for me to just do it.
Definitely go with the JCW aero kit though. It costs a little more up front then the factory aero kit ... but in my opinion looks SO much better.

Just ran across this in the Winding Road RSS feed:
EDIT: I just realized this only covers the dealer installed and past dealer installed, rather than factory installed, sorry.

Seeing as our recent exclusive access story on the Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works coupe and Clubman attracted a little indignant huffing and puffing from Mini geeks due to a couple of incorrect pricing projections, we’re bringing you the definite truth from the floor of the New York auto show.
According to Mini USA spokespeoples, whereas the last generation’s $6500-ish JCW kit was almost entirely from-factory only (dealer-installed kits were available only for a short period in 2006) due to its added complexity of all-new headers, new supercharger, and limited-slip differential, the price of the new more dealer-installation-friendly JCW kit is set at $2100 plus two hours of service for mounting.
(Click through the jump to read more.)
The Cooper S JCW coupe starts at $29,200 and the Clubman JCW starts at $31,450, and both start delivereies to U.S. customers on July 14th. Cooper S owners who want the JCW kit retrofitted will get a bolt-on new performance exhaust, a higher-flow airbox attached to the engine intakes, plus the requisite 208-horse ECU electro-tweakery.
And for 2009? Despite breathless announcements by some of the same Mini geeks that they’ve heard that a GP-style kit is not in Mini’s plans, we happily can tell them that they are wrong. Our Mini source at New York assures us that something offering “230 or so” horsepower is on the way sooner than we think and that it could very well be called “GP kit” once again.

Well guys I am getting the JCW aero kit in my order for sure I found out where MINI sends all the kits to be painted(or body work) and the place quoted me $850 to paint and install. My question now is do you think this will void any type of MINI warranty on the body or body kit, because I am having someone other than mini put it on?
Same goes for the suspension kit now that I think of it. I can do the suspension kit for free I have a lift I can use or will that void the warranty on the car as well? Just trying to save as much as I can, and I like turning wrenches every now and then.
