sunday: found myself at a carmax location, test drove an 07 MCS with 2,400 miles. Bought it and drove 100 miles home.

monday: went to local MINI dealer to see if i had gotten a good deal. Figured i could buy a new one with the options that i wanted for just a few grand more. Returned MCS to carmax for a full refund. wow, they are great at taking cars back, easy transaction. Can't beat having a 200 + miles MCS test drive.

tuesday: visited vw dealership to test drive a GTI and R32 (the car i was looking to buy). Drove the GTI first, decided i didn't need to drive the R32. Salesperson let me drive one anyway. Told him i'm ordering a MCS.

wednesday: Ordered a Chili Red MCS, configured with help from this forum. My MINI dealer is 6 blocks from me.

Before sunday, i never considered a MINI.

 

Congrats! I had heard good things about Carmax, even sold them my old V8 suv that I drove before my mini. Happy motoring!

 

Carmax is great until you try to trade in your car. They wanted to give us $18,000 for a 2007 MCS loaded with 2k miles... almost insulting...
