Hello...

My name's Allen and I'm new to this forums.. I'm seriously considering a mini cooper not too far up the road from now. An 07 MCS,premium, comfort, and a few more options..
Hopefully it will be all I'm expecting, and from what I've read so far it seems this car will be a lot of fun to drive especially for the around-town driving I do, rarely do I use the highway...

I did have a few questions if anyone wouldn't mind answering, it would be greatly appreciated..

1. How well does the car handle on the highway, like if I needed to swerve out of the way for lets say an animal, car, etc.., will this flip if I jerked it too hard, or just spin out (with no chance of flipping whatsoever??)

2. Does anyone have a Cold Air Intake on an 07 and if so, can you hear the turbo spool up, how loud would you rate it, and anyone have a video ?

Thanks for now and nice to meet everyone..
Allen

Hey Allen, welcome to the forums.

Althou I can't offer any help to your second question, I can tell you that the MINI is absolutely stable at highway speeds. We have managed to get out of harms way easily without the feel of a roll over. Keep in mind that this car is not only well planted to the ground but it also boasts a low center of gravity, making it easy to keep it planted. I have pushed the car up 100mph (in a safe environment) and the thing was so stable.

I feel safer in this car than any of my previous vehicles.

Good luck with the upcoming purchase..

MINIs handle great, that's why many of us bought them! It is VERY difficult to roll a MINI, but not impossible. If somehow you do manage to do it, MINIs are also very safe and well built.

My brother is one of the few people who has rolled one. He walked away with no injuries, and replaced his totaled '03 with an new '05.

Thanks for the input so far, that was actually a third question I had...safety - which is the biggest..from what I've "heard" from the dealership these cars are like a go kart with a solid cage around them...

Welcome to NAM, MINIs are very stable and safe. They can be rolled, but you really have to be a victum or really really doing something stupid.

Do a search, a month or so back someone posted a series of pictures of his rolled MINI, it appeared to be a fluke type situation with someone tagging the MINI in the right or left rear, then a launch. The driver walked away, it does show you want a MINI will take in a roll-over.

Enjoy and do drive safe.
