Howdy from Houston!
Howdy from Houston!
Hi ya'll,
I've been a NAM member in hiding for awhile now and thought I should go ahead and intro myself. I am a mostly proud owner of an 03' coop in the classic chili red w/ white top. No mods what so ever cept for a slight addition which I will save for another post. lol....
I have been a mini fan since I was little, (neighbor had a classic mini). When the new mini's came out 25 years later. Obviously I was more then hooked but could only dream of having one. Well my first mini came to me xmas of 01' when i got a slightly smaller version of the mini I wanted. It was a cool model though and I loved it! Each year my xmas gifts got smaller in size, 4 models in all! even a tiny mini remote controlled car. lol !!! Dec. 05' my wife surprised me with the real thing, not new but only 16k miles on an 03' and was a perfect match to the models I had been receiving for so many years.
You may have noticed I stated "Mostly Proud" mini owner. Unfortunately, not that it would have mattered, I didn’t get the scoop on the costly repairs required to keep the mini in good mechanical condition. tires 160-190 each, whoa! My 70 Buick tires are only costing me 40 bucks each.... Now I’m fighting the dreaded power steering pump problem that seems pretty common to minis with 60k or more on em. It's not that I wouldn’t buy another mini nor would I have passed up the chance to own a mini, just would have liked to know what I was getting into prior to owning one. heh.. I still completely love the mini.....
Ok, for a first post I don't want to ramble..
Good to finally say hello to the rest of you’ all ! Oh and BTY- Watch the roads around Houston, they are hard on the little mini's..

Welcome, marknrob! I live just north of Houston, and am impatiently waiting the arrival of my first MINI. I'm in the city on an almost-daily basis, and you are correct, a lot of the roads are pretty rough!
Welcome Aboard - from So Cal
Happy to have you here - sorry to hear you have a few issues with your MINI. Shop around for shops in your area or places you may be able to buy parts - since it sounds like yours is out of warranty - this may save you some bucks...

Welcome to NAM! I completely agree that we do have some terrible roads. I am right off I-10 and Voss area, so I am lucky that Memorial drive is too bad.
God luck with the car and hope to see you motoring. You should you check out the Houston Chapter and come join us the first saturday of every month.

Hehe... I will be doing that in my MINI very soon. Luckily I will be on I-45 for the most part. Stop and go, to be sure, but at least no potholes. :impatient
