Oil Changes

I seem to remember, from the dealer, that oil changes, wiper blades were free maintenance items for X amount of miles and that the first oil change was at 15K miles. Wow, I'm used to doing it every 3K miles, I realize that it's synthetic and everthing, but man that's a long time, especially with a turbo. I've got just short of 4K miles on my MCS and went on a short trip over the 4th of July, checked the oil before we left, was down half a quart, that was with around 2K miles. So my question is, do we go the 15K or change it sooner? My dealer is around 130 miles away from where I am, so I'm not too inclined to drive up there to do oil changes.

What most do...

is do thier own changes between the dealer changes. But even though the oil CAN go that far, you do have to watch the level, just like you found.

Yeah, the dealer changes are free, but if you do it yourself, it's not too much. I don't have the turbo, I have an SCed car, but it's about 5 quarts plus a filter. I use Red-Line, and found it on-line for a bit over $7 a quart shipped. If you just want a good oil, Mobil 1 is fine....

Get a bunch of filters to leave in the garage, Classic Auto Campus sells stuff like that to NAM members at 20% off. Some dealers give the local clubs a discount too.
