OEM Roof Rack Whistles

Hello All. Just got my first Mini Woohooo. I love it (2004 JCW) but it has the OEM roof rack that whistles like a construction worker at a strip club even at 10mph. On the highway it's unbearable. I would really like to use the sunroof but after about 10 min the high pitched whistling gives everyone in the car a headache. Has any else experienced this issue and if so is there anything I can do to fix it without simply removing the rack. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
THX,
MIKE

Remove the Black Vinyl/Rubber channel cover strips, and the whistling should go away

Ditto what was just posted. We removed ours on day one - we've had the roof rack for 2 years - worked like a charm!

Also try putting one of those Yakima or Thule spoilers on the front. It redirects the air so you don't have the whoooosh noise over the top of the car.

I was thinking about putting on a fairing but was concerned about a couple of things with it. Has anyone had any experience putting a aftermarket fairing on a OEM roof rack? I'd hate to buy one just to find out that it won't connect. Also wouldn't this block my sunroof? THanks for all your help so far.

i put a yakima fairing on my factory rack

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...yakima+fairing

After many miles, long road trips, speeds that should be reserved for closed roads i have not had to tighten it or make any adjustments.

Good Luck!
