MCS on the short list
MCS on the short list
Hi all-
I'm not a Mini owner yet, but it is on the short list to replace my beloved '97 Miata STO. Currently in our stable: 99.5 Audi A4 1.8QT (wife's car), 01.5 Audi S4 (mine), and a 2004.5 VW Touareg (to tow our Airstream Bambi trailer. We are currently building a house that will be less than a mile from my office. That will allow me to walk or bike to work easily in all weather. We will need to keep the Touareg for the trailer. At some point we will get rid of my S4. That will allow me to have a fun driver/track car. The Mini would allow me to do that but still be able to have a baby seat if needed in the future.
Things I like: light weight (like the Miata), space efficiency (it got pretty cramped shoving my extra set of tires, tools, etc. into the Miata to go to the track, and the design/tradition.
Things I don't like: seats! (we rented Minis while on vacation in Las Vegas and SF...more comfortable than the Miata's seats, but not even close to the Audi seats). Shifter (spoiled by the Miata once again), FWD (I know...I'd get over it).
Mainly I'll be researching on this site to see if I can find solutions to things that might not work for me.
Cheers!
Matt

to the MINI culture. It's fun ... I wish I had a stable ... then I would have a place to keep all those pesky horses that keep eating the grass

Seriously, though ... MINIs are fun and cute. You will get a lot of happy motorists telling ya so
From personal experience - Minis work great with baby seats. Can't say anything for the seats versus audi but my sport seats are comparable (without power) to my 2003 Mercedes and much superior to my 2004 Subaru Forester.
Welcome to NAM. I drove Mercedes for over 20 years. I love my MC. It's so much more fun than the sedans. I have a carseat in the back for my grandson...so no real problems with the smaller folks.
