Ride # 10 - Rocky Mountain National Park
Ride # 10 - Rocky Mountain National Park
Ride # 10 - Rocky Mountain National Park will truly be a treasure of a trip. Here are some details:
Almost as awe-inspiring as Mount Evans, it is about 100 miles from Copper Mountain to the top of RMNP Rocky Mountain National Park, the jewel of the Rockies. We will send you one of two ways, either north from Dillon / Silverthorne or east on I-70, over Berthoud Pass, thru Winter Park, and up the back way past Grand Lake and Grand Lake Towne.
You will enjoy driving up 12,183 ft to the top of Trail Ridge Road (yes, arctic tundra up there) and the Visitors Center. Then, you make a choice:
a) back down the way you came or
b) down to the east, thru Estes Park (the 2nd most popular tourist destination in Colorado) and down the Peak-to-Peak highway
Either way, plan a 5-7 hour trip including stops for lunch. This is not a high speed route because it is a tourist destination, but for pure beauty and scenery, it is among the best.
RMNP has a per vehicle fee of $20 (or use your National Parks Pass). You can find out more at www.RMNP.com or at View Estes Park HERE
Come on out and see if you can spot Elk, Marmot, Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goats, Mule Deer, Pikers, Otter and more!
This ride will leave at about 8 am both on Friday and Saturday.....
