Ride # 4 of MitM this year is the Winter Park and Berthoud Pass Loop. Here is the outline:
This ride will leave Copper Mountain and head east for a few miles, turning north at Dillon / Silverthorne. Stay northbound and enter the town of Kremmling, turning east heading towards Hot Sulphur Springs, Granby, Fraser (often the cold spot in the nation in winter time) and Winter Park. Enjoy Grand Lake on the side if you like, then head up Berthoud Pass at 11,314 ft (and the Continental Divide). Berthoud is Colorado's 1st Ski Resort, opened in 1937. Continue down the other side to I-70, then turn westbound and back towards Copper.
Stop at scenic Georgetown (check out the Georgetown Loop Railroad) and head back towards home base and Copper Mountain. There is time for another ride yet this day....and if you are adventuresome, get off at Loveland Pass on they way home and enjoy the Divide yet again, and both Arapahoe Basin and Kestone Resorts on they way in....
4 Ski Resorts, 1 Continental Divide....160 miles....
