AMVIV 4: Rocky Mountain Caravan

Well, since no one else started this thing yet I suppose I will. My intention is for this thread to be used for the planning of any caravans out of the region to AMVIV4. I know it's still two months out, but there's no reason not to start thinking about it.

This is where other local drivers can jump in and post their schedules. Hopefully we can get a successful caravan together and make a run for Vegas.

My car will be leaving Denver sometime on Wednesday 3/21/07. We're making a long trip of it and won't be leaving Vegas till the morning of Tuesday 3/27/07.

I'd prefer to leave in the AM on Wednesday so that we're in at a decent hour and ready to roll for the first drive on Thursday. I've left the exact time open incase some flexibility is needed.

According to the AMVIV Attendee list there are nearly a dozen locals (CO & WY) already registered, so who'se with me?

I'm game to join the Caravan, I just need to get my schedule to be game with me too. I think I would be leaving vegas Sunday night; so i'm home by Monday morning, and back to work on Tuesday. If i have a job still. Oh and i guess I should register and book my Hotel.

Hey I am up for it! Maybe we can schedule a breakfast meeting at the shop as a meeting point - if you like. I am on the south side of town.

Vicky and I will be driving the R56 (by ourselves - woohoo).

While I'd be up for food before the road I believe your shop is in the DTC and the very opposite direction that I need to go from my house. I guess we should find out where other people are at and try to meet either central or somewhere on the way out of town.

We live about Hampden and Wadsworth, which is a short jaunt to freedom via C470. Is there something with easy highway access that won't be all congested in the AM hours of a weekday? I'll keep my eyes open for places that might fit the bill, but as I'm typing I have to wonder if meeting in Morrison might work. There are a couple of great places for food in there and it's close enough to C470 & I-70 that we can get on the road quickly. There's also a gas station at the morrison exit, so last minute fuel would be at hand as well.

I'm not in charge of anything, but that's one suggestion that comes to mind. If I knew better where everyone was it would perhaps be simpler to find a good meeting place. Anyone else have any ideas?

We usually meet

at the Stegosaurus lot, anyway - I-70 and Morrison Rd.

I'm up for anything - just wanted to offer. My shop is at C470 and Sante Fe.

See you soon!

I don't have a room for the 21st yet. And it's my daughter's B-day. So I am planning on leaving the morning of the 22nd. Any time is fine. I can be in Glenwood Springs and jump in with whoever wants to caravan. Now not too late I would love to be in Vegas by 4 or 5pm. From the Glenwood exit I would say it is less than 7 hours, but thats is bombing I-15 outside of Utah hard. I don't have to do that I am just as happy in a caravan of Mini's. Well we will see what happens in the coming weeks and nail it down. Oh boy this is going to be fun.

We haven't decided if we're leaving Tuesday (20th) and stopping in Utah for the night or leaving Wednesday (21st) and driving straight thru. Coming back either the 26th or 27th. We are in the Broomfield area. A caravan would be fun if it works out. Somewhere in Morrison would probably work to meet up....near I-70.

Same for us Randy; leaving in the morning and driving straight through. We can leave any time; hopefully there will be one that works for most people. I'm thinking maybe between 8 and 10... maybe.

I am trying to find a way to swing this years AMVIV but money is TIGHT. Was wondering if anyone might have some floor space I could occupy?

My demographic? 39 y/o, married with a 5 year old daughter. I am LOW maintenance.

I am trying to avoid sleeping in my car, but if it is that or miss my third AMVIV........

Thanks for any help!!!

Peace,

Kevin, you CANNOT miss Vegas!

If I were going this year, you could crash with us. But, not only is it my boy's spring break but I also have business meeting in Chicago that week into the weekend. There is no chance I can get there.

Contact JAPIC here in NAM. He has a group going, maybe 15 or more again this year.

Nice to hear from you.

WHAT?!

Jonathan, say it isn't so! I am BUMMED you are not going. Who am I going to chase up that crazy canyon?! What the heck is that one called, uphill with the guardrails? In AZ? UT?

Anyway, sounds like the deck is stacked against AMVIV this year. Is it to early to start planning for AMVIV 5?

Hope you are well!!

Peace,
Kevin

It is so

but I am still taking the caravan to the Dragon.

The canyon...ahhhh...somewhere between Cedar City and St. George, as I recall. What fun.

I was planning on Track Day this year. Now, nothing. But go for me, I will enjoy your pics.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Carole and I are 1st timers at this. We recently purchased our first mini and are planning to head to Vegas on Wed. We are leaving Pueblo sometime in the pm and heading to the Grand Junction area to spend the night. We'll leave early on Thurs as we need to get to LV by 2 pm. We'd love to travel with someone if anyone can work all of that in. Looking forward to meeting all of you and having a great time.

Jonathan? You're bailing on us?
FINE!

Not too early to start planning for AMVIV 5 at all. It will be the weekend of 3/28-30 2008.

Not bailing, not my choice

but unable to attend. The call of business forces me to - of all places - Chicago that week now, for 4 days. Time I get home, it is over.

AMVIV 5 is in my planner....

Hey Jacob!

Nice to see you on the Schomp lot, shopping for yet ANOTHER MINI! Anyway, can you keep us up to date on when pp are coming BACK from AMVIV? I have had an inquiry from someone who is not driving TO AMVIV in their Mini, but who will be driving BACK. They requested an escort to Denver area. Any thoughts?

Yah, ran into Jonathan at Schomp last weekend, and if all goes well we may end up putting Christine in a MINI of her own. Time will tell. She had fun driving the car but is concerned over being a "copycat" becasue I already own one. Renee and I tried to talk her into being a two car family, but that hasn't come to fruition yet.

Now, as far as return dates from AMVIV go I believe that the majority of traffic is leaving Vegas some time on Sunday; though no specific times have been discussed yet. We'll be out there till Tuesday morning, so if anyone's still around I'd be happy to caravan back.

Oh, and incase no one else is counting we've only got 5 weeks left till the event officially starts. I can't wait!

We've finally decided to leave on Wed. morning but it'll probably be pretty early in the morning like around 4 or 5 am from Broomfield. Coming back on Tue. If anyone leaving that early could go together.
