Aloha stallers?

My 04 cooper does the rough idle at stop lightstoo. I think it started after the recall for the fuel vapor emisions.
That was the only ECU work I had done since I bought the car.
The only mod I had at the time was the Alta CAI.
It ran great before.
I also have Day time runnig lights, so when I run the AC it gets worse.
I was in the shop the other day and they told me there was a software up grade for it but I have to wait till it gets here.
I think Mini of Hi uses Logs, or Bottles to get the software to Hawaii.
I am also waitng for MTH was hoping it would help, guess not.

I too had this problem since the emissions recall, until the 19% and GIAC fixed it completely:smile:. IMHO it is the ECU opening the gas tank vent and creating a big vacuum leak. There has so far been no mention on these boards on whether the latest software (42.1) you speak of has fixed it or not. In fact the only post that mentions it is this one: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...highlight=42.1

I know this isn't anything new, i had to find an old thread to revive just to UPDATE that mine actually STALLED out, rather than just kind o fdipping them bringing itself back up. Dealership didn't seem too sympathetic. It happens all the time, i know... but not actually STALLING :/

I've had it happen to me for months now, but i thought i'd post that it dipped then stalled, and was hoping nothing was too wrong with that

Same symtoms happened to my 04 MCS, but when I installed the GIAC program for my 19% pulley, it went away. Now it idles in serenity!!!

You mean this is an old thread? I didn't even check the date of the first post.

Anyway, it was warm today...over 90 degrees and the idle wasn't rough at all so I can't put my finger on when it happens. I just know it does.

That might be too pricey of a fix for me. I'll just keep blipping the throttle since it's free.

Heyall,
i solved the rough idle problem on our Mini S. Its an 04 with the latest software on it. The mods are Alta intake, Alta 15% pulley, mth tunign ecu flash, Alta cat back as pertanant mods prior to the fix. I put a new intercooler on a few weeks ago. It was a Forge Motorsports unit that i posted about in the Performance forum. Its been a couple of weeks now and what was a daily occurance is now a non issue. I wonder if its an aircharge temp or flow restriciton issue wiht the IC causing the problem. The car idles smooth as glass 24/7 now.
