Mini cooper s r56 strange exaust sound and low boost

Hello to all mini lovers..recently i had to deal with a very strange problem on my cooper s r56 07 model...while i am on 2500rpm with 2nd or 3rd or 4th gear and push full the throttle the car does not run as it should be...also a the exaust makes a gunshot sound too...i dont know if the car is overboosting or is cutting of power..no codes or engine warnings so the problem gets more difficult..please help me :(

Clean you MAP sensor, I have heard of this happening before when someone was getting loud popping noises attempting to floor it. The MAP sensor is under the air box mounted on top of the intake manifold, remove the MAF sensor (two torx screws) from the air box/charge pipe to turbo, remove the air box (one torx screw) and grab yourself a screw driver.

Wide open throttle at 2500 rpm is putting a high load on the engine especially in the higher gears.

The problem could be a variety of things such as a loose boost tube, loose vacuum connection, carbon build up on the valves or a failing high pressure fuel pump. This is just to name a few.

Most importantly, is the car giving an error code (CEL) or a high engine power light (limp mode)?

Check the hoses from the turbo down to the inter-cooler on the passenger side. Had the same problem a few weeks ago and found the hose that mounts on the inter-cooler had come loose. There is a triangular splash shield held on by 3 Phillips twist screws blocking the view of this hose where it mounts on the inter-cooler.

All that's required is the removal of the air panel filter and one torx screw holding the airbox onto the intake manifold. There's no guides I'm aware of because it's the most basic of things you can do to your Mini. I bet it might have oil in it like mine did since it's located right next to the PCV hose that vents oil coating the entire inside of the intake manifold with oily residue. The MAP sits right there on top of the manifold.

Link for removing the upper half of the airbox, there is one more torx screw between the PCV hose and the bottom of airbox on the passenger side.

You're in the UK then because you guys don't have a MAF sensor. If so proceed and ignore the MAF sensor step.

I don't know what to tell you, I have never seen a 2007 R56 S engine bay without a MAF sensor and the style airbox you have looks strangely different. I think it's time to clean that engine bay!

I'm sorry I don't know anything about your Mini and can't pretend to, so very different than the ones here in the states. You can't even be sure that your engine is tuned for our gas since it's so very different. I don't even know if anything is missing since you don't have a MAF sensor, haven't seen many threads on your engine.

Hi, did you ever manage to fix your problem? I am suffering from a similar issue on my MCS 2008 but slightly different as there is a lack of grunt from around 4300 RPM. Cannot get anywhere near the red line in 3rd through 6th.

Cheers.
