R56 JCW Brakes

Has anyone heard anything about availability of bigger brakes for the R56?

4 piston brakes as upgrade in early 2008 or with R56 JCW Stage II kit

One problem with larger brakes is getting the wheels to fit if you have smaller rims from before the upgrade. Most 17" wheels will work OK (we hope). The new brakes are supposed to be matched with lighter than usual weight 17" wheels from MINI.

Sorry. I wasn't clear. I'll try again...

Does anyone have any info about the R56 JCW Brake Kit?

There's gonna be a new JCW brake kit coming out, I guess over summer. 4 piston fixed calipers at the front and bigger front rotors.

See update to post #2

It's unclear just which of the MINI wheels will fit the new JCW 4 piston larger brake caliper. We will have to wait and see. Nothing for sure.

Supposed to get more aggressive front and rear brake pads too.

The standard MINI brakes and former JCW brake upgrade are one piston calipers.

Stopped by MINI of St. Louis yesterday and the sales manager showed me what he tells me is the upgraded brake kit for the R56. The rotors were slotted and drilled but the calipers are not red. Could this be right? He (the sales manager) said that they aren't painted red if they aren't on the stage 2 JCW?

I'm not convinced this is right. Anyone have any official info on this?

You can get bigger JCW front rotors right now (not sure how long they have been available, but you can add them in the configurator), but as I understand it that's all they are is new rotors.

I don't think the JCW Stage II brakes with the upgraded calipers, pistons, pads and rotors are available yet.
