Mark at Real Street is out of the office. Haven't gotten an email back from Britospeed yet either. May just have to give them a ring. My interest in the Motec is more of a curiosity thing. Having reviewed several of the TriCore architecture manuals I have a pretty good feel for what these ECU's are capable of. If the same core can handle the 6 cylinder turbo charged N55 it should be able to handle our 4 cylinder with room to spare. The core MPU is 32 bit but can also execute 16 bit code at need to reduce file size, is capable of parallel processing and has a 128 bit wide data bus so it's no slouch. I'm just tickled pink I don't don't have to open the case anymore!!! Yeah!!! Wohoo!!!!

So I'm very curious, like you, and inquired to a shop local to me (Denver). They have responded and here's what they said:
"The cost of the base M1 ECU is $5802. There is a small adapter harness required, and we are waiting to get some more info on that part. If you want additional logging features and analysis upgrades, it will cost up to $2000 extra depending on what features you want."

A quick search on-line will return all kinds of answers, but according to The Society of Automotive Engineers specification SAE-J1297 the octane rating for 100% pure alcohols is as follows:
Methanol - 133 (RON) & 105 (MON) - octane rating ((R+M)/2) = 119
Ethanol - 129 (RON) & 102 (MON) - octane rating ((R+M)/2) = 115
Methanol - 133 (RON) & 105 (MON) - octane rating ((R+M)/2) = 119
Ethanol - 129 (RON) & 102 (MON) - octane rating ((R+M)/2) = 115

Whats the octane rating on the M5 methanol ?
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁. Thats the good stuff !!
Careful careful if you use this stuff folks. Hehehehehe

$37 per gallon. Be very careful on which methanol blend you run as some kits won't work with additives. The M1 is 99.95% pure methanol. The M3 and M5 products have petroleum distillates added. If you run either of these in an Aquamist system it will fail, as the seals are not compatible with petroleum products. You can tell if methanol is pure by using an eye dropper and adding a drop of water to it. If it is not pure you will see a small cloudy appearance when the drop hits that will then quickly disappear.

So we add methanol injection to improve performance. But what exactly is happening when we turn the system on ?
Do we use 50/50 mix ?
Straight methanol ?
Whats the best thing to do ?
If we are using it to suppress detonation so we can run more boost, why can be use a mixer of say nitromethane ? Nitro is extremely hard to ignite, but when it does, LOOK OUT !! Another additive i found on my endless searches for fuel additives to suppress detonation to run higher compression ratios on the street was acetone, yup !! It was on the list as an old school fuel additive for the, god i hate to say the word, cheaters, wait wait, pushing the rules envelope racers, there, now i don't feel so bad.
So if we are using the water/methanol, methanol to also cool the egt's, i don't think the nitro or M5 would be a good choice since the both BUILD HEAT when finally fired
So help us out tigger. This methanol injection is getting more and more popular now a days
