Ultimate chick car? VW Beetle in my area. Followed very closely by large SUVs- Yuk!
Sales of MINIs to 60% men doesn't sound like a "chick" car. In my area it's more than 60% men.
Finally the whole concept of "chick" car is stupid and contrived at best. People pick and drive cars that suit their needs, their budget, and/or makes them "happy". The MINI is a "Happy" car.

Funny, this same sort of thing happened to me two years ago when I was thinking of getting my Mini S. Most of my east coast Dude friends and even some of their girlfriends and wife’s gave me that smug "Oh that's a CUTE car, are you going to get it with those CUTE little strip's?!" I started questioning the whole thing and did for a little while but just figured why!! It's the dumbest thing, who the hell cares, it's your car and if you love it fine, to each his own!!!!!
I laugh when I see people driving around in SUV's burning a hole in their wallets from the price of gas!! Some of my friends also have SUV's but you don't find me saying it to there face or questioning how dumb it was to buy!!! What I find is it come down to big car people or small car people, again to each his own.
This thread reminds me of the Red state blue state thing, don't get me started.

The whole idea of making assumptions about someone else's sexuality (let's face it, that's why this topic generates so much chat) or verility based on the car they drive, or how they drive it, it pretty stupid. However, it is a good, if potentially explosive way to get a reaction from some people...
What we can safely say is that the MINI is not for wimps. The guys who are really afraid of being typecast by the car they drive are out looking at Hummers .
Having said all that...
nevermind.

Manly classic and current cars:
MINI Cooper S (and Cooper)
Mini Cooper
Alfa Romeo "Duetto" Spider Veloce 1750 ('69)
M-998 HMMWV (pre-Arnold)
Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SX
EVERYTHING else is girly, especially:
Volkswagen Rabbits
Mazda Miatas
Toyota MR2s
HUMMERs
Pontiac GTOs
Well then, that should get some kind of reaction...

Many marque forums have this thread.
The reality seems to be that more women than men drive convertibles, at least relatively inexpensive ones. But in my area it is true with TTs and BMWs, including the Z Cars, but not the M Roadster or Coupe.
Corvettes seem to be primarily driven by men as are Porsches (excluding Boxsters) and Vipers.
I had a classic Jag for awhile and subscribed to a British Jag club mag. Most of the letters were from men boasting of their manliness in driving XJ6s. I didn't want to tell them that in this country the XJ6 was the car that was driven by the wives of the guys who drove a Mercedes.
There are also a lot of women who are really into cars and appreciate a good handling car, and are not just interested in looks. Conversely, a lot of men who are into the "looks" of a macho car and don't really care about how it handles.
