Tail light patch avaliblility r53
Hello,
Still looking for my r53. Looked at one today on a lot with some miles on it, starting to rust on the inside of the bottom of doors and around one tailight. I figure the doors I can remove the rubber panel seal lightly vacuum blast and rust paint. Then also paint the inside of the bottom of doors.
The tailight I might have to blast and replace steel. I can make a patch but if a large enough part of the bucket is gone I would prefer to put fresh steel in. Is there something avalible or do I cut something out at a scrap yard?
Thanks
Ed

If its a 2005+ R53 , you might still be under the rust and body warranty.

If you are not then you can get new ( primed ) main body panels here:

Good to know about the warrenty. Since I'm going to be the second owner would the rust warrenty apply to me? I'm of course going to ensure the power steering pump has been replaced under recall, and get it done if it has not.
Wow for needing a little steel around the tailight the entire quarter panel is quite pricy. I'll blast it down and see how bad the cancer is. I might be able to patch it without the need for parts. Otherwise I'll take you up on the cut out peice. A couple hours tack welding never hurt me. Plus with the bracing and compound curves, it will help keep warping in check in that area.
