2003 R53 Ticking noise
Hi All,
When i start the car i hear a ticking noise:
The noise changed after a few minutes of driving:
Today i started the car and the same noise sounded more weak.
The crank pulley and the serpentine belt were replaced two months ago, the idle pulley was also replaced to a used one.
The car has a 17% supercharger pulley. I told that to B.M.W before they replaced the serpentine belt, but i am not sure what serpentine belt they used. Can this be related to noise?
Did anyone had a similar issue or can recognize the tapping sound source?
Do you think it is risky to drive the car to the garage in this condition?
Thanks

I brought the car back to BMW garage. They told the belt tensioner is malfunctioning, and to replace it will cost me another 1000$.
I asked them the part number of the belt they replaced two month ago. The size of the belt they put is 1388mm.
I checked again with the previous owner of the car the exact type of supercharger pulley, it is NMK5041 15% (not 17%)
And the belt was BANDO 6PK1360, 28mm shorter from the belt that they put in the car.
I asked them to replace the belt to the compatible size. They told me they don't have a belt in that size because they only have original parts. After convincing they agreed to replace the belt if i will buy one and bring it to them.
Is the BANDO 6PK1360 that came with the 15% supercharger pulley kit good enough?
If i won't find the exact belt, is there other recommended brands/models?
And any other advice will be welcome.

There are charts of conversion tables for different belt brands to figure the correct part number.
And I agree with bavmotors, $1000 is completely insane. If you have smallish hands and some tools you could change the belt tensioner in an hour or two. Order the Gates one from Amazon and get to it.

A shop SHOULD be buying parts with their wholesale discount (if going OEM), the marking up the price back to about full retail...then charging install ...
That shop sounds like they are doubling the cost of a $350 part RETAIL...so $700, then charging you $200 to install plus shop fees.to get to $1000...
Ouch.
