R50/53 Meet Dr. Watson (Build Thread)

Mainly for looks I wanted my "daily" wheels to be aggressive. Don't worry though, I'll have some fat sticky tires on proper wheels for spirited driving.

Well I guess thats OK then. You need to figgure though that if you set your suspension around your whimpy turtle tires, it will need to be reset for a set of good track tires or you will nail the plastic in the twisties.
What coilovers are you looking into getting? Custom or off the shelf spring rates? Camber adjustment? Any other suspension mods, or will there be? Sorry for all the question marks, but as you can tell I love proper suspensions, and can help.

All good. I understand that I will have to mess with the suspension if I change the wheels. I also have a good understanding of suspension setups in general. I've had experience with spring rates, corner weighting, suspension geometry and all that with my previous cars. I'm modifying this car for what I want to use it for and competitively tracking the car is not currently planned. Just the occasional spirited driving through twisties. I'm currently looking at Megan's since they have a nice built in camber plate for a very decent price. I'll just stick with an off the shelf spring rate and I already have an Hsport rear sway bar and adjustable rear control arm.

Your splitter looks great! Glad to hear your car is coming along, it's one of the best looking here IMO. Keep up the good work.

I was really hoping to see your car but I guess a video will do for now. I'm looking forward to it. Post a link when the upload it!
Thanks for the compliment. The MINI project is still a long way away from completion but I've enjoyed every moment of ownership so far. I'm just really looking forward to moving next month so I can really start tackling the more involved work in a garage.
