Any local shops in Northern NJ / NY metro to do the wiring?

I'm not a big DIYer , so after purchasing the mirror and wiring from ECS, I'm hoping someone may have a recommendation of a shop that could do the install.

Thanks!

Everything is great here and I will be performing this retrofit. As I am interested in the mirror un-dimming when in reverse it sounds like I need to add this mirror to the VO in NCSExpert. Anyone have any idea what the code for this is? I seem to recollect it can be found in the VO on a vehicle that had this from factory. I have no way of knowing what it is unless I just pay for a day of the official BMW tools and do this via a standard retrofit which I just might since I need the latest module firmwares.

Any leads on where to score the requisite wires these days?

The factory harness is unavailable and now the compatibly pinned wires ECS mentioned are not available.

Any other leads on how to get the right pins on some cables? (or specs for the pins so I can try to locate myself)

Rear view auto dim crap mirror

I have a stock(?) auto dim mirror on an '03 S. It Sucks! I much prefer the "old style" manual flip mirrors. No wires needed! Always works!

I just brought home a 2016 Countryman JCW. My local dealer poached this from a box in Oxnard. Basically, it had everything I was looking for. With the addition of Crusher wheels and a flat load floor retrofit, it is damn near perfect. I would like to add the Auto-dim mirror with homelink and the power folding mirrors.

They attempted to add the Auto-dim mirror but got nothing when they plugged it in. Will the instructions in this post work for a 2016 Countryman? Thank you for the help!

It should, that older MINI info but unless they mixed up the pinouts or had a factory wiring production change that would explain it. I would get the wires kit a couple pages back and test the wires with a voltmeter to see what signal is what wire, then follow the instructions a couple pages back. they might juts have the wires mixed up.

just had a shop look at this and they said the only thing that worried them was replacing the fuse & recoding or something like that - was this covered in this thread? what exactly needs to be done there?

so, follow the pdf instructions and auto dimming will work like factory save for not doing it in reverse?

not a huge deal, but will the dealer do that?

Should be the same, but the GP2 was a special MINI with some odd changes. I would at least look at the pinout on the plug to see if it matches whats in the pics here for the DIY.

right, that's what I was referencing.

so, a shop said they can do it for 55, dealer can do it for 70. however, for the coding bit of it, the dealer wants $140...

any better option on coding here?

Read the thread that is specific to R60 coding. There is a ton of information in there and some instructions on how to do it. You may also put out a call to see if there is anyone in your region that is comfortable with the software, has the experience and the tools. I believe there are some newer wireless options as well. Do a search for the Carly app.

Pin size?

Was a source ever determined for the female pin ends?

ECS has what you need. You will have to splice some wire in to make it the correct length. I ordered 4 female ends, soldered some 18 gauge in to make the length work and following the wiring instructions. Including taking the trim off, it was less than an hour. I didn't even need any calibration.
