RMW stroker (aka air-sucky-thingy)

One of Jan's special creations has finally made its way to me in all its glory:

That's right, El Gato Tuerto is being stroked . Helix is doing the work. More photos below.

The 2.0L block is fully built, with custom crank (and repositioned crank trigger mount), custom rods, custom pistons, custom cylinder sleeves. There's a custom crank pulley, a full array of upgraded components from ARP studs to a custom Cometic gasket. The RMW head has inconel valves, an RMW camshaft, and a port-matched intake manifold (pictured below). I'll be running the new shorty header, coupled to my Borla Street for a decent highway combo. The stock Eaton M45 S/C will be used...for now...a certain upgraded Eaton may be in the works .

The new engine's going in, then Eric, Matt, and Ralph at Helix will be driving the car to assist Jan in some of the devil's own remote Dimsport tuning; the "heartbreaker" dyno is in pieces now as they are moving shop, so I won't be setting a new record just yet... . Final tuning will be done at a hopefully soon-to-come Philly tuning event.

I'm currently working with Terry Dyson (dysonanalysis.com) and Jan to choose the best oil for this application. Everyone's pretty excited (mine is number 3, if I recall correctly). Right now I'm leaning towards running the Renewable Lubricants Super High Performance SAE 30 HD oil for break in and for long-term use. It's a corn-based synthetic with the properties of a thick 10w30 but uber-robust resistance to sheering. I'll keep you guys posted!

In keeping with the RMW spirit, I promise two things: 1) everything posted by me, here, will be entirely truthful and 2) there will be results for all to benefit from. Bear with me and wish me the best!

Congrats! I am amazingly jealous right now

Keep us updated on the install. Care you share what other bits [s/c pulley, intake, exhaust, IC?] will be bolted to the engine for the install? Is that a port-matched header?

Good stuff to say the least. I have 1 quick OT question. Where is Helix moving to? I've been there once for a sway bar and if they were only a little closer it would be so much better.

Ryan,
our headers are matched to our cylinder heads
This is why I ended up making the "shorty"

More good news on the way.... we are very very close to adding some more crazy hp to our MINI's. As ingsoc alluded to.... its very close
we will start another thread about it soon

They're going to move to Manayunk, but I believe it's still a couple months away? Ask them I guess.

wow the rest of the automotive world is in trouble when this freakin car hits the street!! god bless RMW and his relentless non stop search for more power!! I'm with Nabeshin on this one....I too wish I was rich. OT you know I brought my car in for service yesterday and the damn dealer is getting $128/hr labor!! That's higher than the Porsche dealer is getting next door!!

Heh I don't knoooooow

The aim is to have the car on the street by next week. I begin working Tuesday and will be working like a slave, 80 hrs/week for the next 5 years. So, yeah, I want to drive it before I'm too busy! Helix says that might be possible.

I missed a few questions here...sorry...
  • pulley will be 17%
  • I/C is currently stock with M7 hood scoop...may get GP, depending on how the car behaves
  • exhaust will remain my Borla Street (it just sounds soooo nice ), which will bolt up to the shorty header
  • intake is and will be stock with Alta panel filter...possibly will go for a JCW
I'm going to get my baseline with the RMW components and build up from there. The block is so capable that I expect to find some deficiencies in the other components. But, the stock parts also are damn good, so we will see.

Vernon29RW that's not bad. Our labor rate out here is $168.00 per. and $164.00 at independent shops. that's what we get for living in the SF bay area.
