Is there anyone out there who has installed a header on a MINI used on the street. All of the venders selling headers have a disclaimer that they are for "off road" purposed and not street leagal. I think this is just a way of covering themselves. If anyone has installed a header, how did you get the cats to fit, and the computer from flagging a problem with the O2 sensors?
You don't want to delete the O2 sensors or the cat. The car will basically run poorly without them unless a good deal of ECU work is done.
In general, they are sold as "off road only" because I don't think any of the headers have CARB numbers... as CARB gets touchy about modifying the exhaust between the head and the cat.
Some headers are better than others... some retain the pre-cat O2 sensor location better than others... some include a replacement high-flow cat - which is the only way I'd bother with one...
None will provide much benefit without head work as modern stock exhaust systems are already pretty good compared to cast iron manifolds vs headers on old V8's...
Where can I find good aftermarket parts for my Mini Cooper
what kind of stuff are you looking for?
Motoring Underground has a pretty awesome Yellow Pages for all kinds of things including a listing of aftermarket companies based on what they sell.....check it out
awesome thanks. im just looking for some stuff to basically up the hp and overall performance of my regular cooper. ive been told the cooper s is the best way to go but ive always been known by my firends to go different routes than other people when it comes to tuning my cars and i pride myself on that. so i guess what im looking to do is build a regular cooper thats quick

I've been looking all over the place and can't find an N-1 style exhaust for my Cooper...Anyone know a place I can order an N1 style exhaust?
I'm not completely sure what an N1 style exhaust is....but a google image search suggests that you mean one of the big potato shooting ricer exhausts? (below)
If that's what you mean....the magnaflow Cooper exhaust looks like that.

This is the actual exhaust Magnaflow makes for the Cooper
trottle buddies are alright but gains are not more than 30 hp.. i did it on my peugeot 306 gti-6 straigt bult on with efi an everything... expensive 25 hp gain danm redid the engine from at 2.0 to 2.4 new head cam everything 280 hp... yes and it sounded f.... great...
I'd be curious to see how a RMW 2.0L "stroker" would work in a Cooper (non-S) application... I could see that possibly putting out some decent numbers while keeping a stealth appearance...
Is th general concensus on the lightweight crank pulley doesn't do much for the N/A cooper? I was looking at that mod and felt it may be worth the $150 pricetag.
