The supercharger is too easy. One tip to use first is to replace your stock sparkplug wires (5 K-ohms each). I use Accel Super stock spiral wires with HEI coil connectors (1 K-ohm each), and then replaced the stock plugs with Autolite Platinum 5224's and gapped them .005 larger than stock. This simple mod improved performance and fuel economy. -Jeffy.
I'm on the verge of performance modding my MC. Sway bar and new tires are on the top of the list.
After-market intake/exhaust are on the list, but I'm actually thinking about the JCW Sound Kit. Say what you want about the $$$$/HP value, but for me, it's about staying with MINI warranted parts. Personally, I see this LESS as a performance mod, and MORE of a cosmetic mod. I'm just not sure if it'll go on an 04.
If you can swing it, try to hunt down an original JCW Tuning Kit for the MC. I just added one to my 2004 MC and it's made a big difference. My MC is much livelier and smoother with more power at lower RPMs. All of the previous hesitation is gone; the engine really wants to spin up now. The sound is great, too, deeper than stock with a slight burble but not too loud.

The burble is the only thing from the MCS that I would want.

I did not catch the non 'S' part...sorry...is that why I can't get an answer on E-85? :-}
I'll poke around some more to find an answer. Any suggestions as to where to ask? Tried Google...what a joke...I suck at web search...although it led me here...so it cna't be al bad,ey?
I want a turbo kit that is not made to add on to the super charged engine. I don't even understand the point of keeping that microscopic blower on there when you're putting a turbo anyways. It seems like it is just more weight, resistance and more parts to break.
Someone make a turbo kit that is worthwhile for the MC! That could possibly include a new set of pistons/rods so we can run more than 5-6lbs of boost!
And if you can't tell...i've run out of practical and inexpensive things to improve...I'm about ready to step it up, but I'd rather not buy a MCS motor to do it.
Anyone gone this way with their MC? and by this way, I mean forced induction.

hi, I have a mini ONE since 3 years. I was modding my car for these years. I dont talk about exterior and suspension mods. Im interested in performance mods in the NON supercharge way...
My mods:
arround 65 KG less from the mini one (the lighter mini) without mod interior.
60mm throttle body with custom intake manifold and filter
nology wires and sparks(Beru silver), with nology coils
OBX header with custom exhaust (50mm straight)

schrick cam
bigger injectors (from S)
Im very happy with and VERY fast too... :_)
but Still Searching performance mods. Planned compresion ratio and bigger ports... and if MTH WANT a hi rev ECU FILE!!!!!

Jeffy offers some interesting specs and I can figure that the result is a stronger spark; what kind of improved performance and fuel economy are we talking about? I could'nt find any other discussion in the NAM forums on this topic. Any thoughts?
Is there anyone out there who has installed a header on a MINI used on the street. All of the venders selling headers have a disclaimer that they are for "off road" purposed and not street leagal. I think this is just a way of covering themselves. If anyone has installed a header, how did you get the cats to fit, and the computer from flagging a problem with the O2 sensors?

You don't want to delete the O2 sensors or the cat. The car will basically run poorly without them unless a good deal of ECU work is done.
In general, they are sold as "off road only" because I don't think any of the headers have CARB numbers... as CARB gets touchy about modifying the exhaust between the head and the cat.
Some headers are better than others... some retain the pre-cat O2 sensor location better than others... some include a replacement high-flow cat - which is the only way I'd bother with one...
None will provide much benefit without head work as modern stock exhaust systems are already pretty good compared to cast iron manifolds vs headers on old V8's...
