I went to PKI Friday and the progress on TIJ coaster in the past few weeks has been great. There were a set of cars on the track and most of the props seem to be in place. I did notice the only cars we saw were CR. The style of the cars/track reminded me of the "Mousetrap" coasters. Should be great!

Hey, although this will probably be included in the package that they offer, mention how great it would be for us to get some ERT (exclusive ride time)!!

That's what we're shooting for!

Please, if anyone gets there this weekend, let us know how the ride looks. Maybe some pics??

Sounds like a fun weekend, and the kids love roller coasters. Any ideas on hotels/where to stay around there? Maybe we can start getting blocks of rooms?

Good idea - I have talked to a couple places listed on the park's website. I'm waiting to see if our contact has any mention of rooms before I post what I have.

We were supposed to get something last week (or was it two weeks ago??) - still nothing. I'll see if I can get something today.

Some details!

Here's what we have so far....this still isn't official, but it's getting close:

The event price is going to be $50. This will include admission to the regular park and the water park, parking, and catered breakfast and dinner. We will have the ride to ourselves for the first hour of the day. Opening is at 10:00am. There is also a tour drive complete with rally flags that will start at 7:30am in Oxford OH and end at the park around 8:30am where a breakfast will be available. There will be a BQ for dinner somewhere in the park. They are working on a car show and some other stuff. Tickets will be purchased online but that is still in the works. I am expecting a follow up from the organizer in the next week with the details.

Is the event price per person? Also will there be a block of hotels rooms available or are we on our own for that?

Thanks for the current info!

Sounds like we should stay in Oxford, Ohio on the 17th and party with the co-eds at Miami U and ride up and down the streets of the University ? Maybe hit a few Frat parties ?

"Uptown" at Miami U. is a fun place, full of cool bars and small restaurants

Then we can zip out of there in the morning to PKI for the Italian Job Party

I haven't heard anything yet on rooms. However, I am working on the hotels from the PKI site to get a group rate.

But now that I think about it, I'll probably want to make some calls to hotels in Oxford, in case people want to do the caravan from Oxford to the park - unless you don't mind driving from PKI to Oxford and then back to PKI. I'll let ya know.

*EDIT* The pricing will be verified once we get the official statement from PKI.

Depending on the final pricing, I might just have to do this... 7 hours isn't really THAT long a drive

Is there an "official" signup for this event? Seems like we're not too far off from this...

I've been away for a couple days - sorry.
There will be a sign up on their website very soon. That's what I'm told. I'm chomping at the bit for more info every day. Hopefully we get something soon....

This is just a note from the MINI Motoring Club of the Carolinas (M2C2). I have been monitoring your forum for information. We will be bringing a group up as well. Seems like we are all just trying to get some solid information right now. I think we are going to go ahead and book some rooms in the area then wait to see what the sign-up process for the actual event is. Please post any new information as you receive it. Thanks and we look forward to getting together with you guys in June. Should be a blast!

Hey guys...

I just changed jobs and my internet access is nonexistent at the moment.

Here's some info - unfortunately I can't find all of the details, as I'm still unpacking...
If you'd like a place to stay the night before the event, I've contacted the following hotel and gotten a group rate. However, I can't remember what that rate was exactly, but it was discounted and of course included breakfast..
KIRKWOOD INN & HISTORIC HOUSE

4027 U.S. Route 42
Mason, OH 45040
513-398-7277 or Toll Free 1-800-732-4741

If you have problems, I talked to the owner. Tell her you're with the MINI group at PKI and you should be good to go. I'll try to find out the rest of the info for you... sorry.

Adam

There are a couple of people heading down to PKI from Chicago area.. Depending on timing, perhaps we can try to hook up with the MINIsota caravan along the way.

That would be very cool. Once we get an idea of how we're going to get there, I'll post it here.

Here's a recent email from them...nothing "new" per say...
Anyone heard of Devil's Backbone?? Someone in our group mentioned it and was thinking of having our own drive since the park's cruise seems to be out.

We have the plans in place in a big way for the June 18 event. Based on the response we have received, it looks like there will not be a cruise component to the event. However, we are offering the following perks:

. First ride of the day on IJ: ST OR Speed Lane Passes/ERT

* ERT in the evening on top park attractions

* MINI scavenger hunt inside park

* MINIs and MINI materials on display in park

* Sectioned off MINI area of the parking lot

* MINI judging for parade and parade through the park

* Free parking

* Breakfast and dinner are included.

The cost comes to approximately $45 for the day/ $20 for season pass holders. We are working now to get this on our web site so your members can register.
