Disappearing gas milage

I've just started having a problem with gas milage...After filling up with gas the "service engine soon" light came on, it was not time for a service...thinking it might be the O2 sensor, I called MINI in Clt to have it checked...in the mean time I filled up with gas again, at a different station and the light went out...It came on again at about half tank and went out after refilling again...then came on again at half tank and stayed on even after refilling....went to MINI and they said it was the anti knock sensor and reset the computer and gave me some gas treatment...the light has stayed out but the gas milage has gone from 34 to 30mpg, the car seems to run good...anyone else have any experience with this.....

No, but my service light has been on for 2 years and always throws the CAT CODE even tho there is nothing wrong with the CAT. Also I run regular gas in my car and every couple of months I put in high test but it burns up real quick. I really can't tell the difference in HP and it has never knocked. As far as gas milage every mod has cost me. The computer should set your car for the type of gas you put in it. Maybe it isn't working properly causing the CEL to come on. Dan at grassroots or Waylon at Way Motorworks in Atlanta have alot of experience in these things. Good luck, wish I could get 30MPG on the open road.

My engine light keeps coming on and off ... so I get the code and it says a very slow emissions valve leak. I am thinking the gas cap. My gas mileage is about 28 right not and I cant seem to get it up past the 30's. When I get back to NC I will be going to the dealer.

Also I just got a recall letter from Mini USA on the check engine light. Seems there is some faulty oxgen sensors and they will replace them up to 100K if that checks out to be the problem? They looked at mine but said it had to many MODS so I still have the problem. Car runs great but as I have said before if I put high test gas I get about 21-21 1/2 mpg on open road, with mid grade 1/2 mile gallon better but with regular I get 24-25. I found this out going out west where you can only get sometimes 85 octane mostly 89 and a few places 91 is the highest. The farmers run their vehicles on the lowest and alot of towns don t have but one grade. P>S> Trace we were hoping you could make the BOO run.
