+1 Soon the JCW police will ask vendors not to sell JCW badges to non certified owners..lol... This is too much seriously

I just don't get it. Sure if you want to label your car with something that it's not, go ahead. But how can you not know that it is a bit cheesy or tacky even? There is a reason the car did not come with the badge.

I have a VW R32, and when I see a regular golf with R32 badges, can't help but laugh at the driver. Silly.

Putting a JCW badge on a MCS is simply you-ification. Something that MINI has encouraged us owners to do. I, too, don't see any harm in this. It tells me that the OP thinks my car is "cool."

Some people de-badge their MINIs because to the owner, they feel that it makes it look "cool." (And they usually get compliments for it). Just think of all the GP owners that didn't like the stickers.

Here is one that I would do if I had one:
-C O U N T R Y M A N

I've also seen people modify their badges to the following because they think it is "cool."
-COOP
-POOPER
-or simply "S"

I could argue that this is also cheesy and a way of pretending it to be something that it is not, but it is simply..wait for it..

YOU-IFICATION

I don't really think MINI cares much for exclusivity, and I'm glad because I have taken advantage of it by adding the GP diffuser and belly pan to my JCW. And damn, I think my MINI looks "cool." I don't really care for the GP badge; otherwise, I would have probably got that too. lol

Now if I ever see a JCW badge on anything other than a MINI (like say a FIAT), I think that would upset me. lol

I'm not sure I can agree with that interpretation. When ordering a new MINI, I can have any number of JCW-badged items added for a fee, from door sills to steering wheel to rims. Even the Justa has a JCW accessories group in the configurator. And I can wander down to the parts desk and buy them to put on any MINI they fit.

I find it hard to ascribe an intent of exclusivity when the company pushes JCW add-ons so heavily to all buyers.

I think others have already replied to this, but I can't help myself: I'm sure some people are trying to impress. The rest are just having fun. Either way, who am I to judge?

Funny JCW Badge Story

I had a 2011 MCS Sport Package and added a JCW Tuning kit, JCW gauges, shift light, carbon steering wheel inserts, shark scuttles, Black Stars, JCW wheel caps, tower brace, door entry, carbon shift **** and quite a few good aftermarket performance toys that out gunned the 2011 production line JCW as in goodbye. The 2011 S had direct injection and the JCW did not.

John Cooper Works makes nice add on accessories/parts and stands behind them with dealer warranties, personally I view JCW as a nice performance accessory package install on the production line or over the parts counter kind of like Nismo or TRD.

I like de-badging the back of my cars, but after owning the MCS 18 months I had the JCW badges installed that came with the tuning Kit by a dealer.

A few weeks later I dropped by a local club event and was busted by a JCW Policeman driving a bone stock zero option 2011 JCW. I was told after he checked out my car that I was out of regulations because my JCW badges was on the right side and needed to be moved to the left side to let Mini drivers know I don’t have a real JCW.

He didn’t give me a JCW ticket or show me his JCW badge, so I'm thinking he was not an official JCW Policeman but an imposter or he would have at least reported me to JCW Central with his JCW shoe phone.

you can now buy a GP2 at your local MINI parts counter too...lol....... but that’s how they make the big bucks I guess on parts and accessories ...but with all the de-stickering and vinyl wrapping of the GP2's there will be more GP2 look-a-likes than real looking ones out there....lol... I've just been fortunate enough to have always owned JCWs and GPs

but please let everyone relax and be a little more open mind here
i actually don't like people who brag about something they doesn't have too(but hey I'm not judging)
the thing is I'm not bragging or trying to fake my car
my mcs badge at the boot trunk and S side scuttles are still the same. even non mini lovers will not be confused
I have jcw brake, gp2 rear diffuser, akrapovic exhaust and downpipe and planning to get jcw intake as well so adding jcw badge will make it look more cool

Hey guys, sup?
Just thinking out loud, doesn't the JCW AeroKit come with the badge?
Kind of a bummer to pay for the AeroKit and not get the badge on the front bumper!
Also to the OP........it's your car, tell people what you want to about it.
We have guys in Illinois pasting GT gas caps on their Pony Mustangs, looks nice and the chicks digg 'em.
Also like the JCW side stripes you've added to the lower side rocker panels.
No question here about what your driving now!

Good Job.

Think your car looks great and re-badging it in the rear would look great too, if you decide to do that.

I know you started the thread to get your badges on and hope you appreciate the JCW badge police humor.

Yes, very nice. I re-posted the side shot a little bigger.

my 79 is totally debadged and debumpered

but I always laugh at car shows ... at the Mini's that are "Coopers" even they were built outside of the Cooper years. Decals and badges are cheap.

on the other hand ...most people thing every Mini IS a Cooper

in the end .... what's it matter?

"wow nice Cooper"

"it is not a Cooper, this is a 1979 Mini; the Cooper model was produced from 1961 thru 1971; less than 3% of Mini's were Coopers ... a true Cooper is as rare as a true 66 Shelby Mustang"

"Oh . . . . nice car"

****
for people who know .... my 79 has a MK-1 front clip, MK-1 boot lid and MK-1 tail lites . . . and Cooper S disk brakes

if you did not notice the discrepancies .... I understand

Capt, I don't know if I asked you what color is that ? As I really like new and older orange MINIs and Minis.

Funny story I had a guy come up to me in 2005 MINI when mine was new and said is that a "Morris Minor". lol. He was from overseas.

I own a modded JCW (2013) that I removed the MINI hood emblem and replaced same with JCW trunk {2006) emblem. This is the all metal cloissone type. I removed the aero grill JCW emblem and replaced with a small red generic TURBO badge. On the rear hatch I removed the MINI emblem from under the wiper and replaced it with the JCW badge from the lower right. In its place I added a TURBO emblem from a Chevy Aveo. I've got to say it all looks "factory".

I have a JCW in production. It would be disappointing to find people standing around arguing over whether its a real JCW works or not. There needs to be some kind of exclusivity. I guess if it has a red roof there's no argument......
