Bridgestone RE71Rs/NM Re05s 17x7.5 Rims/ECS 10mm Spacers
Finally got the245s mounted in place of the 225s on 7.5" Rims...needed 10mm Spacers to clear the front strut. There are still a few small adjustments/trimming/alignment changes to be made...
but they will fit and I hope increase grip for future AutoXs coming up. They feel great...They are a bit taller and wider but I think both those things will benefit me in an AutoX...Width for Grip and Height for Gearing (want to stay in 2nd gear on most courses. Track width is basically at it's maximum with allowed mods...Just one note...Although the NM Wheels do swap out perfectly for stock wheels, the ECS Spacers don't fit perfectly. I had to machine down the beveled edge just a bit to get the wheels to sit flush on the NM Wheels.https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...6d003048c4.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...f1177c6d68.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...53770cec21.jpg |
I’m very interested to know if the increased tire size helps or hurts your times, as the increased weight and drag could outweigh cornering grip.

I had to machine down the beveled edge just a bit to get the wheels to sit flush on the NM Wheels. I don't race, only drive spirited since my 1966 [bought in 1966!] Austin Cooper S and now 2018 JCW. Important to mention I have 18" stock wheels with 225 tires. Since I am pushing close to 300hp and feeling the handling is not quite up to par [Yokohama Advan tires NON run-flat!] and not wanting to spend on a new suspension, I have gone the route of Cravenspeed Big Pair and NM Engineering engine tie-bar. Is it helping? Maybe!!! But, I am thinking also spacers such as yours... 10mm front and maybe 15mm rear? The rear fender has a short lip inward. With your knowledge and mainly considering I have 18" wheels, do you think I would rub?... I am trying to avoid getting their test kit [non drive-able]. I appreciate your feedback... Thank You
