Anyone running 20's yet??
 

Both Koing and Team Dynamics are making 20x7.5 wheels.. And both Nitto and General are coming out with 225/30/20. Making this kind of package almost affordable.

Yes, I know they are heavy and will make my car slow. But they will certainly look great !!! Although, rim and tire weight will only be around 49 lbs.. How much do those heavy S-lites and Pirelli's weigh again ... hmmm

Last time I checked thou, the Cooper was not suppose to ride like a Caddy was it ??

The big wheel craze is in lets all face it, when was the last time someone drolled over someones 15" wheels.. Even when they are forged BBS (ok, a little)

20"s fill the fender completely, IMO it can't look much nicer than that !!

I've seen 20's on a MINI and laughed. :lol::lol::lol:

I thought we want our mini's for handling... 20's are more for a show car not for a car on the dragon... this is my opinion... but I know people with 24's on a caddy and I know someone with 34's on a blazer (which for their intended purpose works) but NEITHER can keep up to my 17's on the dragon...

I have 35 series tires on my car, i cant even IMAGINE 30 series!:eek2:

The S-lites are 25 lbs and the run flats are about 22lbs for the 17's.
Can't comment on the 20's, but I am not a big fan of those size wheels... the 17's look good on the mini, not sure if I would want anything bigger.... I guess it depends on the wheel...

The original Mini used 10's in order to increase passenger space as much as possible. Check out the cool aluminum 22's next time you see a... Greyhound bus:smile:.

I dunno, 16s are about perfect for the mini imho . . . 20s make me think someone's overcompensating . . . :lol:

17s or 18s imho :roll:

While I'd never do it, just like underbody neon, if anyone wants to, go for it..... Have fun..... I'll never buy it, but so what?

Gentlemen,

18-20's for bling/show; then, change out to 15" for track; then, back to 17's for the Dragon. Man get with the times. Change is good. Your MINIS can reflect your mood and your dreams. That's why I love my '03 and '05 MCS; both are different colors, set up differently, etc. Be cool.

Don't 16s get any love in there at all? :smile:

I had the stock 16's and wanted bigger so I went with 18's. I was worried about the added weight and the ride but the ride is better now than the original runflats, and it barely added any weight. To each his own. Funny that most on this forum look down on the big rims, like we all have to have the same set-up to be "in the club" or something. Not everyone races their Mini's, some have it for the looks and not all of those want to embrace the "classic" look. Whatever makes you happy. Dont listen to the old farts, some of us young whippersnappers like the bling. :lol:

...Cars with huge wheels remind me of the fad of putting the really wide wheels on the little pickups such that they extended outside of the wheel well. If you like it, good for you. I think I see The Fonze approaching the ramp towards the shark.:wink:

Well... I went witht he 18s and I love 'em. Ride is fine by me.

And I have this set of 16s to use for the snow here in south Florida...:thumbsup:

I know of only one car that used to run 20's. USED to being the operative word. It was a show car, big audio system, Zeemax body kit, four exhaust tips ,20" chrome wheels and shiney DUB logos on the side of the car.I always thought DUB stood for " didn't use brains ". In any event I would see him show up at the venue , change out his normal wheels put the 20's on and push it into the show. At the end of the show reverse the process and drive home. After a bit of time he firgured out that by removing the inner fender liners he could actually drive the car with the 20's on which eventually led to his down fall from what I heard. Apparently he pinched a tire which caused a major blow out , imagine that, and wrecked the car. Others may have more info than I but this is what I have heard just recently .

Some think the 18's we have on our MINI are too big.

We have a lowered suspension too. I can't imagine successfully finding a wheel tire combo that would not increase the rolling stock. 215 / 25 / 7.5? Can you get those without buying one-off/custom tires?

The ride is actually improved over the 17" stock wheel and Toyo non-run-flat. (That surprised me... It's also a few pounds lighter per corner...which also surprised me)
