Changing my r53 front brakes to the r56S brakes, or r53 JCW setup, gonna get them on today.

Maybe they ought to consider rewording the explanation in the catalog.
That is a good point, I'll pass the feedback on.

After driving my Mini casually with only a few semi-agressive stops over a couple hundred miles with the new Brembo HP2000 pads and rotors previously used with Posi-Quiet semi-metallic pads, I had the opportunity to properly break in the pads.

I did a handful of slow downs from between 60 and 80 MPH down to 10-20 MPH with 30-60 seconds cool down between runs. These pads are powerful, felt great, and never faded. I did get the pads to start smelling a little burnt after a couple aggressive 80-10 MPH runs, pushing the pedal hard, just enough to not engage ABS. After I started smelling them I did one more 60ish-10ish stop and they felt fine, then I drove for about 5 minutes without using the brakes to let them cool off. I am still curious how these pads would do canyon carving or in mild track use.

Immediately after the break in and cool down I noticed I had to push the pedal a little harder than before the break in, at least in normal Street driving, but after driving around for a while the pedal feel went back to the way it was before.

I suspect that if one were to push the car hard and always push the brake pedal hard also that due to the increased stopping power of these pads you will overheat them. You might need to dial down the brake pedal force to 75% or so to prevent overheating. For me this is fine because I like having the additional stopping power available to me cold, on the street.

Working good so far for me, of course I switched to the jcw setup so my review may be a bit biased.

The Brembo HP2000 pads I have on the front of my 2009 Clubman S seem a little grabbier during this colder weather (30-50 degrees) than they do during the summer (60-90 degrees). It's most noticeable at slower speeds during initial braking such as when maneuvering in and out of parking lots and the garage. The pads just grab/bite more than I expect when I am barely pushing the brake pedal. I've also noticed that I lose some of that initial bite for a few weeks if I get the pads hot. So the pads are a bit inconsistent. Any else notice this?

I am still very happy with the pads and would buy them again, but I will be putting EBC RedStuff pads on the rear next as they are low.
