I blew up my cooper S r53 engine!!! Why?
 

I own a 2005 MCS with 150k km mileage with only a MTH manifold, a euro4 200cell cat and a one-ball mod. Before 2 days I blew up my engine. Apparently my piston rods had too many psychological problems from going up and down and it left for good after making its own way out from the block and into the asphalt.
What I cannot understand is how could this happen. The piston rod decided to leave after I have done an oil change on the car.
I still cannot figure out why it blew up but I have a few theories I want to confirm.
1. After changing the oil I could not figure out how to turn off the oil lamp since I've tried every possible internet trick there was. When the car was revving the oil lamp would turn of and when I stepped off my foot from the gas pedal it would go on again. Could the oil lamp sensor mess up the oil pressure?
2. I had oil-leak from the head gasket.
3. I drove it like a maniac and because of its mileage it was time for it to blow up.

Any other theories?

I suspect that something in the oil filter canister got damaged during your oil change.

What could have gotten damaged?

Reading you lighthearted post I almost thought you were trolling us, especially you have an 05.

Your symptom sounds classic damaged drain back valve in the oil filter housing - leading to oil starvation.

Last oil filter change I did, my heart almost leaped out of my throat when I saw the oil pressure light illuminated for a few seconds. It was just the normal delay for the oil to start cycling after a dry new filter.

The oil lamp was telling you that you had no oil pressure. The pressure sensor was doing its job. You likely had a blockage somewhere including oil filter housing or elsewhere or sludge, etc.

what Aspen said. 👆 My take on the description of your issue was your oil pressure gauge was working correctly. sorry to hear your motor broke. :sad:

pnw nailed it. Little plastic valve in the oil filter housing breaks, and oil pressure drops. Nice looking MINi, hope you get it back on the road.

Whenever the red oil symbol shows. Never rev or drive the car!!!
