'06 Seat Warmers Won't Work
Girl help needed - my seat warmers (both sides) won't work anymore. If I press the button, both lights come on for a moment, then go right back off. No heat is ever produced. I drive a 2006 MCS Convertible - it's my baby. All my guys (hubby & 2 young sons) are way over me driving this little gem - they don't fit in it and consider it a girl car. It was all smiles when the boys were small. I'm on my own, guys.
What's the problem? How do I fix it? I've suffered through 2 winters in Northern Virginia - I don't want to make it a 3rd! Thanks, Stephanie |
I haven't had to troubleshoot that yet, sorry.
But given your description, it sounds like they are trying to work, but then may overload and shut down? Check the fuses and relays (sorry I don't have the locations and numbers) first. I'm sure more experiences users can chime in.... |
How do they not fit in it ? Unless they all try to jump in the back seat ?
Sounds like a short or the heated seat fuse in the kick panel, but it does not light up when fuse goes. I would check the fuse first. Then make sure they are plugged in under the seats or the wire set is plugged in, has it worked before fine ? http://c1552172.r72.cf0.rackcdn.com/137391_x600.jpg |
ECSTuning-
My husband is 49, my two sons are 20 and 16 - they've just grown too big for my backseat - or, at least, it's not exactly comfy for them back there. Their big ole feet have to be contorted first before they can be placed in the forward position back there. They whine and complain... it's quite a scene. It might be better if I was much shorter so the driver's seat could be pulled way up. I'll check on your suggestions... |
lol, i know what you mean, brother is 6,2 and fits fine with the seat back, but the foot room in the back is lost. The newer MINIs have really gained in size, check out the new F55 5 door and MINI Countryman. Its bigger then a Golf 2 door.
Let us know how it goes. |
The fuse is good. Tried with it plugged in and with it taken out.
How do I check the relay? Where is that? |
Fuse is good.
How do I check the relay? |
What is the link to order that new wiring pic you posted? I'd like to check the cost.

Bet wear has caused the mat under the seat cover to fail...
I would ask somebody to test the plug under the seat with a multimeter... Set to OHM... Bet it is infinite... So a broken wire. Fix..new seat, or visit to an auto shop to uncover the seat, replace the matt, and recover... |
Yea, it might be those mats, but both to go at the same time, maybe wiring ? I would check those mats also.
The kit about is the retrofit, but if there is something wrong with the wiring to it for the buttons, its in that kit. 61110145996 http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/61110145996/ http://c1552172.r72.cf0.rackcdn.com/137391_x600.jpg Here the DIY for the install. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t-or-cold.html |
