1967 Austin Mark I Cooper S
s/n: C-A2S7-1028529A
Old English White with Black Roof and Red Interior
Professionally Restored with Performance Improvements

The Mini Cooper was perhaps the most successful Works rally car of the 1960s and one of its most famous victories was the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally.

The ultimate expression of the Mini Cooper was the 1275 cc S which won first time out in 1964 and became the Work’s frontline car from 1965 onward winning eight international rallies outright that same year, an exceptional achievement.

Minis went on to become more than just a practical car with success on the race track, they became a fashion statement. The combination of practicality, fuel efficiency and success on the race track created an overwhelming demand for the little car. In the day, Minis were embraced by celebrity car enthusiasts including Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, and James Garner.

This 1967 Mini Cooper S is being offered for sale by the private party owner who has owned it for 10 of the past 14 years and his brother owned the car for the other 4 years. The seller is the owner of a automotive restoration shop and several years ago restored the car for his own use with the plan that he would never sell it. The car has been professionally restored to a high standard using the only the best parts and components available.

The current mileage is 59,584 and is believed to be original. The car is equipped with a 4 speed transmission, 120 MPH speedometer and 10,000 RPM Smiths tachometer. Prior to the restoration the car had very little rust. The upholstery and carpets are new and the correct style for a 1275 Cooper S.

The car has a few very cool features. The rear side windows pop open for increased flow-through ventilation. Both front seats tilt forward to provide increased access for your cargo, kids, dogs or mother-in-law. The trunk lid can be left open for extra space and still be able to drive with the lense plate visible. And the vintage British Automobile Association badge mounted next to the license plate is included.

This car would make an affordable and versatile addition to any collection with many uses including pleasure drives, club events, shows, rallies and autocross events.

Below is a list of selected modifications and improvements, too numerous to list in the entirety.

Converted from RHD to LHD.
Rebuilt engine to performance specifications including new Weber 40 DCOE carburetor and linkage.
Installed Limited slip differential.
New Aero quip fuel line.
New Mocal oil cooler.
Converted to new and better rod-change gear shift linkage.
New Bosch brake booster.
New Nipondenso high torque, gear-drive starter.
New radiator.
New belts and hoses.
Electrics, including tachometer, changed from positive to negative ground, necessary to convert from a generator to an alternator.
New alternator.
New Lucas Sport coil.
New Koni shocks and adjustable springs (rubber) front and rear.
New steering rack.
New Paddy Hopkirk accelerator pedal.
Front and rear sub-frames removed, sand-blasted, primed and painted.
New fender flares painted to match roof.
Body re-painted.
New under-hood pad.
Windshield and rear window gaskets replaced.
New front seat springs and upholstery.
New carpet.
New dashboard liner and panel shelf covering.
New inertia-reel front seat belts.
New (air) horns.
New washer pump, bottle and hoses.

This is an unusual opportunity to purchase a tastefully and professionally restored Mini Cooper S with desirable improvements and performance enhancements.

Not that I have that kinda dough for a second car right now, but would have much preferred RHD. And yes, I've driven RHD cars in the states.

Cool car!
