I'll probably just end up getting the calipers. By the way mega, did you ever have a chance to look at ISTA about programming the BC1? Never could figure that out and my turn signals still hyperflash.

My BC1 is the C03 revision, but I need at least C05 to access bulb check options. I'm just trying to update the BC1 to a later revision.

I hope not. I like having the LED lights but the hyperflashing is annoying and resistors are just not an option.

I wanted to try some fuel/oil additives to see if they helped address my issues with fuel economy. Found that Liqui Moly (the brand of my oil) makes some highly rated additives, so I bought some engine flush, fuel injector cleaner, and anti-friction (ceramic) coating from them on Amazon. Added the fuel injector cleaner, called "Jectron", tonight. I'll do the engine flush and anti-friction coating when I change my oil in a few thousand miles.

Here's links to the stuff I bought if anyone's curious:

Injector cleaner Injector cleaner
Engine flush Engine flush
Anti-friction coating Anti-friction coating

Call me old school. I firmly believe if anything sound too good, it is probably not true. Those anti-friction additives work really well to help flush money down the toilet. But it is your car, and good you are willing to try something.

The injectors need no cleaning. Petrol have been cleaning it day in day out for you and the oil company have been putting in detergent in them petrol for decades. You will only have clog injector from solid particles if your fuel filter has gone AWOL.

You may be completely right. I just want to see for myself on my own car.

Wow, now that's something. I get 28 max highway and 20-22 city. That just seems low to me compared to what other people claim they get in their R53's.

I can get just over 30 mpg on the highway an in the twenties I'm the suburbs here (if I don't give it too much welly). However I don't have a tune, that will definitely have an impact. Most tunes are for pure performance while the factory has to worry about CAFE etc.

Mega - the only time I have seen mpg that low on a cooper or cooper s is on a autox or track respectively - even then the S gets around 12 mpg on the track. My Justa gets 20 mpg on tack days... but that includes the 8 mile drive on the highway to the track.

Cool videos mega, thanks for sharing!

Man, that's another thing my car does. Yours seems so smooth when letting off at the upper ranges, mine will violently buck in any gear if I let off from WOT. I have all new motor mounts and even tried Powerflex inserts on the top mount and a rebuilt Powerflex dogbone, only made cabin vibration worse.

ohh it does that, I'm clutching at the same time so most of the time it's not notiable.

I had to slow my foot down on releasing throttle for those "lift" corners like 5

thirsty Mini

My Mini drunk a full tank of petrol at HPDE yesterday. Averaged 9 MPG for a 100 miles of fun. I think I might start giving alcohol to Mini to keep him calm and cool.

Alright, so I ordered the facelift handbrake console a few weeks ago and it arrived today. The facelift console adds a tray in front of the parking brake and a larger cupholder. Just figured it would be a nice addition. However, I ran into a problem. I figured it would be a straightforward retrofit, but the console has two tabs at the front to hold it down. Of course, there are no pre-cutouts for that in the carpet of my car. Has anyone done this before? Can you just cut the carpet a bit for the tabs?

Got it in. Turns out the console tabs slide underneath the shifter console. Ended up not being able to use the facelift bracket that the handbrake console is supposed to use because they moved the studs that the bracket mounts to. The old bracket still clips in to 2/4 spots and the screw still screws so it's in there okay. However, we also learned that the facelift must have changed the overall darkness of the interior trim because the facelift center console is a dark gray while the shifter console is a light gray. So I guess I'll need to order that stuff too...

Today I learned I don't know how to sound deaden:

Did both doors. I think it made a difference, now I really need to fix my rims/wheel bearings/whatever so I can get this thing semi-quiet.

Doesn't have to be pretty.

Unlikely to make it any quieter, but may help with vibrations and resonance. If you have any extra, perhaps put more around the woofer in the lower door.
