FS - AL Rear Seat Delete

For all I know, this was the first, if not one of the first such home-made "kits" for our MINI. The blue carpet is held in place with a 3M spray adhesive, and another color carpet could easily be used instead... I probably should have gone with black, but never made the time to change it...

I built this thing to last, and it's quite strong. I've put heavy luggage on it, and even bags of concrete! You can see how it is reinforced on the underside:

While it supports a good amount of weight, what I like most about it is that it is "hinged" so there is access to the space below. It serves as a nice place to put a jacket, towel, or a anything you don't want in plain sight, like a laptop computer, for example. Here's an early shot of it open :

Hard to believe that it's been over 4 years since I did this!

I'll be going with some structural reinforcements back here (think roll cage, sort of), and this item will not be used any longer...

Anyone local, 100 bucks? I don't have a suitable box for shipping, but I will look for one if need be...

I had to go find the "build thread" over on MINI2, and it was started on Feb 15, 2003. Has a way of making one feel old...

Before I forget, the MINI winged logo, actually a mousepad, is not included because it got too much sun, and I had to throw it away some time ago...

Again, given the size of this item, a local transaction is highly desirable. I appreciate the PM's, and will consider shipping as a last resort...
