I am planning to replace my timing chain tensioner on CM 184 2010. can I do it without stalling the distribution? I mean I replace the old part with the new one and I restart everything is good? it seems too simple...

I did just that on my R55 Clubman. (same engine) Pull the old one out, put the new one in, go about your day.

Thanks for the reply, I'll take this opportunity to ask another question. do we agree that the tensioner is on the left behind the engine, there is a conduit that goes up just in front of which is in the way of access? I'm making this change as a bit of a precaution

Yes, when you’re standing in front of the car looking at the engine, the timing chain is on the left side, and the tensioner is on the back side by the throttle body. You’ll have to remove the short section of in take pipe to get at it. It’s not a difficult task.

a very last question, I didn't have a torque wrench with me, I saw a tightening torque around 48LB, I personally tightened quite hard does it matter?

I'd say as long as it doesn't leak any oil and doesn't back out, you should be good.
