Mini Countryman All4 S CVT fluid change question

Anyone know how to refill the CVT fluid on a 2011 Mini Countryman All4 S? I know it’s supposed to be “lifetime fluid,” but I’ve also had to rebuild a tranny on a Mini before because of a lack of service. There is a small plug on the top of the tranny towards the back under the DSC pump, but it doesn’t work well for filling. I’ve read that some of the newer Minis are filled through the drain plug via a special adapter, but I can’t find any reference to the Countryman and I haven’t found a listing for the adapter.

Any help is appreciated.

It has been talked about a lot on this site. VW tool is used as well as other great info if you search. Just had a thread the other day on it.

I got the VW adapter -- and filled it from the drain plug. Worked very easy, no issues with refill. Just need a thermometer or scanner to get the correct temp and check fill level.

Hmmm.... I know I should probably do this too. How difficult of a job was it, overall?

hardest part is getting the one pan torx bolt out. The lower sub frame passes right below it. After much reading -- I took the route of drilling a pencil sized hole in the sub frame to allow access to the torx bolt. That was the hardest part of the job.
