Thanks for noting how the Scuttle comes off. I want to pull mine and either paint or cover them.

Who decided to make them the only grey trim piece!?!

The chrome ones look nice but are pretty pricy.

Ordered the chrome brake inlet covers and a Go Badge today.

Contemplating striping (noted in another thread).

Then it will e on to handling and performance upgrades.

Night and Day. My Dueler's were down to the wear bar, so the ride and noise was pretty harsh. The P7's are super quiet and smooth.

Nice, mine are getting there, do you stay with stock size?

my 2012 all4 was delivered with pirelli p7 225/45R18 summers ...

they became the loudest tires i have ever encountered at about 7,000 miles and less than 1/2 worn

they were rotated at about 3,500 miles, they show no uneven wear or other iregularities

they were so loud i replaced them

Jas31483 04-03-2014 12:04 PM

I got the non run flat p7's. It was between them and the potenza s-04 pole positions. I went with the p7s because they have the 70000 mile warranty, where as the bridgestones didn't have any treadwear warranty.

Since mine is new and came with the Continental run flats I have an opportunity to swap them for a set of Yokahama YK580's for essentially $600 (getting $200 trade in on the Conti's). Would be going up to a 225/50 17.

Trying to decide if I want to drop the extra cash for this right now. The Conti's to transmit a lot of road vibration.

Operation "Get the Grey Out" is finally complete.

Side scuttles plasti-dipped black
Installed piano black dash trim kit
Installed new larger cup holders

Makes a HUGE difference, IMO.

Definitely does. I was going to plastidip my side scuttles too but decided to keep them the original color since the black line trim for the headlights and taillights are the same.

Good luck with the install! They quoted me 1.5 hrs for the install per the MINI instructions, but it took the guy around 3.5 hrs to get it done.

Please let us know what improvements you notice from this upgrade. Did you baseline performance and temps prior to the installation?

Those are pretty pricy, but are supposed to be a good upgrade. Just have never seen the data supporting it in the real world from someone who made the swap.

Purchased and installed my ScanGaugeII.

I decided I wanted to mount it above the tach but didn't want to spend an extra $100 for a mount from CravenSpeed. Instead, I fabricated my own with some bits I had laying around the garage.

Front view:

View from outside the windshield:

Started with a plain old 3"x3" T-Plate, bent it 90 degrees, painted it flat black, added double-sided tape, replaced the top center screw on rear of tach assembly with a 1" #8 screw which I also painted flat black.

Changed out the winter 17 run flats for the 19" summers. Better look but not neccessarily a better ride, bump wise...
