Question with engine sputtering.
While accelerating on 6 gear to reach 70mph, all the sudden, the engine is sputtering and the RPM and speed dropped. The engine stay on 2000 RMS for while and then it back to normal. What was going on? By the way, I have countryman automatic all4 with 4000mile.

this is a known issue with this engine (or turbo?) there was a thread on it somewhere, I think the problems and issues section. Many have experienced the exact same thing, but seems to only happen on rare occasions or once or twice. Once is too much though. Have had it happen once getting on the highway, not in sport mode and accelerating hard, engine lost power, surged, lost power again, then all was ok.

Thank you magpullin. I thought it just only happen to me.

Just happened to me for the first time yesterday...
I was in 6th gear (stick), doing maybe 50-55 and hit the accelerator to pass a car and my MINI sputtered for a second. Didn't notice the tach at the time, figured I was just gassing it at a low RPM. |
See a service today. They said nothing they can do because there is no light coming up. (engine light or any light). And I have to see if it happen again and i have to remember the speed and see if any light come up.

Update with Peugeot retrofit link posted HERE.
|
It shows that its a PCV delete.... If your capping off the ports how would the crank case vent?
|
Indeed! In looking closely at the cap kit, it appears NOT to be the one-way check valve that was described to me. What was described to me may have been a third-party retrofit instead of a Peugeot-official product.
I know that an in-line oil catch can has been successful in trapping (via gravity) the oil that tries to travel to the intake manifold. Until I can track down the check valve retrofit, I may splice-in a catch can. |
