Downpipe that doesn't cause cel?
 

I've been looking around the internet and can't find a catted downpipe that still doesn't seem to throw a cel. Anyone know of a good catted downpipe? Should I just go catless, and is there an actual fix for the cel on a catless?

As long as you get a tune and your state doesnt test emissions, getting a catless DP is fine. Or if you dont mind reinstalling the stock Cat DP for state test and then swapping back out again then go for it.

But yes there is a fix, get a tune and the light will not come on due to the cat missing.

If you have an N18. You will get a CEL. I am dealing with this now. I have the akrapovic DP and I am dealing with this very issue in order to get an annual inspection. The DP causes a P0420 code which does allow you to pass. I have tried the spacers with no luck. Will probably have to put the stock piece back in to pass. PITA!!

There will never be downpipe with a high flow cat that will not throw a CEL. These cars are just too good at detecting it. If one doesn't throw a CEL, it's not adding to your performance. I would go catless but I'm not sure how you would remove a CEL on a Countryman...

So I can get a tune and it can stop the CEL? And I just got the JB+ too! Ah well, I guess that I will just go catless. Don't have to worry till next spring, I'm compiling parts to install next year, and the turbo upgrade requires at least 3 inch piping. Thanks for all the input guys.

If you have an N18 the answer is no.

I must disagree, there are several tuning options for the N18. Yes just about all of them currently require the ECU to be removed from the vehicle, but that is definatley not a "NO" by any means

I was referring to the CEL for the P0420 with the N18. It is hidden in the code.

$290 and it didn't work?!?!?!?!?!?!? I'd be pissed. I have my Akropovic DP sitting in my garage waiting for my exhaust to arrive before installing. I picked up an O2 sensor spacer hoping to avoid getting a CEL.

The Delete R detects the code and the deletes it. You will see a code light and it will go away, mostly within 5 mile and rarely in 10. I paired my Ak DP with a ViP Custom DP back exhaust for the most amazing V8 sound.

Yep that's what the delete r does. I have it. All it does is block the light from hitting the dash. It does not block the code. It gets stored in the ECU and cannot be removed until the issue is no longer present by going through the necessary drive cycle. It is a code that cannot be cleared. I am going though this right now and just finished putting my stock downpipe back in order to get my annual inspection.

I don't have annual inspections. The Cel shows up and then goes away after a few miles. I just have my local mech delete the codes during oil changes. Thank gods for Georgia (except for the newly legal guns in bars thing)!

No inspections here in FL either. I'm hoping my o2 spacer will help. If not, I'll take the leap and get the Delete-R.

The delete r only blocks the little light in the speedo, not the code being stored in the ECU. I have the delete r and had to put my stock DP back in to pass my annual inspection due to the P0420. The spacers clear the P0420 but give you a P0136 and P0141 code.

But... the light goes away with the Delete R. Good for me.

If throwing the code doesn't cause any issues, I'm ok with it. I just don't want any CELs.

The code prevents you from passing inspection.

Well, the spacer didn't do a damn thing. I'm still getting the P0420 code. I guess I'll have to drop the $290 on the delete-r. Sucks!

Don't waste your money all it does is stop the light in the speedo. You still get the P0420 code.
