When I shut my car off (and occasionally I've heard a bit of it while idle) I'm hearing a pitiful "squeeeeak" kind of squeal sound. It's not constant and doesn't resemble the waterpump failure sound clips I've come across in trying to figure out what it is, but its a bit annoying.

Mini of Portland said that it was the waterpump, but that it was just a bit of a noise from it shutting down and not to worry, this was when it wasn't very loud and really you could only hear it because my garage is fairly small.

Now it's loud and to be honest, it's completely silly to pull up in this gorgeous car that already has people looking at it only to have them all hear it make this pitiful sound when i turn it off.

I'm going to call again and tell them to replace whatever needs to be swapped to remove all traces of this sound, but i was curious if anyone else has it? I will try to get a clip of it this evening if I'm not too zombie-mode from work.

From your signature, your MINI should be under warranty. Just take it in and let them diagnose it and fix it.

Yeah, like i mentioned they already looked at it and told me not to worry. The problem is it's lame, obnoxious, and I really doubt that it's normal like they said. I'm actually surprised that I said "ok" to that diagnosis the first time around.

I'm going to see if they'll do my oil change 1200m early and fix that while they're at it so I don't have to make two 50 mile trips in the next month and a half to Mini :P

I had the exact same squeal at turn off, took it to MINI of Sterling and they replaced the pump without any prompting/questions. 2013 Roadster S

Glad to hear Wearlaz. I have an appointment Monday and they're going to do an oil change while they're at it. Almost at 9k miles already and I've only had it since December lol

Getting her back today. They've replaced the waterpump. They couldn't find anything mechanically wrong with it other than it just made that noise. No hassle or arguments, though! Good experience overall.
