2013 R57 wiper replacement
Ok, not very proud right now. I am a mechanic for a living, but not a MINI mechanic, so....how do you change the wipers on a 2013 R57? My wife's car has a different wiper arm than my 2011 MCS. Hers is like a straight bayonet style, with a little kick at the end. My 2011 has the full-on 180 degree half-loop on the end. No issues with replacing mine. I bought a pair of Bosch ICON wipers for hers, figured out how to get her original wipers off, but zero luck in getting the ICONs on there. They look like they are made to fit the loop style arms like my 2011 has. Can anyone clue me in some?

Pretty much OEM replacement is your only choice for 2013.
|
Usually new wipers come with several different adapters.
|
Haven't found an adapter yet that work for the 2013 style.
|
There were no adaptors with these ICONs. Will go OEM. At least it wasn't me being stupid! LOL. Thanks, cerenkov.

both Minimania and outmotoring have wipers that fit
actually I'm surprised your local parts store can't help as that mount was pretty new in 13 but not so today. My Focus ST has the same mount .... which means all recent FOCUS do and that's a pretty popular car ..... Same discussion just happened in the R59 section https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...er-blades.html |
It's funny, but when I went back to O'reilly's to return the incorrect wipers, another parts guy found the correct Bosch Icon's for the 2013. I had already ordered a pair of new Valeo's for the car, but next time, will try the correct Icon's from O'reilly's. I think the numbers were 18 OE and 19 OE. And the longer one apparently goes on the passengers side.
|
That's great news, I'll go look for them. Let me know how they work. I've always had terrible chatter from the OEM wipers blades since day 1.
|
I put the Valeos on. They are the OE supplier, I think. Will try the Bosch Icons next time. Wife says the Valeos work just fine, and you know that's good news...
|
The 13 cars have different arms so you can't just pick up a pair at a local auto parts store. But we do have the correct ones for you.

It would be nice to get aftermarket wipers because the OEM ones skip and chatter like a *****. It would be even nicer if Mini knew how to make a car with working windshield wipers; not too much to ask, I think. |

renchjeep, did you get Bosch Icons to work? I have a '15 Cooper S Convertible and I haven't found a single aftermarket wiper that works with our vehicle. Only OEM MINI wipers work with that unique connection, and I think the OEM wipers are made by idiots at Valeo.

Thanks renchjeep. Didn't realize you had a 2011 model. I believe 2013-2015 R56/R57 models have the proprietary wiper arm that do not work with any aftermarket wipers/adapters. And believe me, I've tried several brands with no success.

Well, mine is a 2011, but my wife's R57 is a 2013. Yup, a 2-MINI family. Gluttons for punishment. Lol.

Parts guy at my local Mini Cooper dealership/service dept. confirmed Icon 18OE and 19OE will fit my R55N. Went to Pep Boys and purchased. It does not appear to include any adaptor that will fit my wiper arm. If anyone else has better success mounting Bosch Icons onto R55, R57, etc., I would like to know how you were able to mount, and where you were able to find the correct adaptor. Thank you! |

I'm gonna have to go look around a part store ....
does your arm look like this one on my '15 '59? Attachment 141597 cuz if it does it looks just like the mount on my 14 Focus Attachment 141598 here's Ford arm on top, MINI arm below Attachment 141599 I've not heard Ford ST folks complaining about availability .... do I think many parts dealers have bad MINI info in their database .... YES. I'll get back to ya after a field trip .... |

2 photos below - 1 with wiper blade on arm and 1 with wiper arm without blade:
Attachment 141595 Attachment 141596 From my 2013 R55N but I believe this should be the same wiper as the 2013 R57. |
FYI...I called Bosch's customer service line this afternoon, to see if they made an adaptor that would allow the Bosch Icon replacement blades to be mounted on my 2013 R55N. The customer service person confirmed that Bosch does not make an adaptor.
