Broken plastic piece on my top

My top came loose on the right (rear) side where it goes into the body. I was able to pull the fabric out to look at it and found there is a plastic piece sewn into the fabric. That piece somehow clips onto a rail of sorts to hold the top taut. I called my dealer, Cincinnati MINI, and there is an aluminum replacement for the plastic. They will replace both sides Monday, under warranty, and give me a car to drive around for the two hours or so it takes to fix.

Fortunately I have a great dealer.

No one commented on this post so I assume none of you have had the problem...yet.

I took my MINI In today - to Cincinnati MINI - In 3 hours they replaced both the plastic pieces (one was broken, one not) which was all I asked for. FYI the repair kit is # 54-34-7-276-922.

But they also flushed my brake fluid, performed a scope, changed the microfilter, checked the car over and washed it. They gave us a loaner to go to the mall and lunch.

NO CHARGE...and everyone at the dealership treated us like they really value us as customers.

Thanks for the update. Your dealer seems to care about your Mini, that is a rarity. My wife only has 1800 miles on her R57 but I will keep an eye on the top plastic pieces. Any other problems and what is the mileage on the car?

Almost 2 years and 27,000 miles, and from what I read on here, I must have one of the best dealers anywhere.

My dealer acts on the best intentions, but who ever does the part orders for them in rather incompetent. On multiple top repairs they ordered 'kits' that didn't contain the part(s) they needed. I've always been given a loaner, never charged for anything.

I just read this post - thought hmmm...I should check my convertible "clips". And sure enough - I have one site that is broken... i didn't even know it. :) Off to the dealer I go.
