That's it, I'm out. Movin on from Mini. Thanks!
I'm moving on from Mini. Just sold my 07 S today, and can't say I'm too sad about it. It's been a decent car, but the problems were beginning slowly, and the dreaded timing chain knock was getting worse. My drivetrain warranty just expired, so I wasn't taking any chances. Just want to say thanks for all of the great info and help. This is a great forum, and I'll miss it! Take care!

Just curious, what replaces the MINI?
|
I'll have to make that decision too come July when my warranty expires. Right now my car is perfect, no issues after the timing chain/tensioner replacement about a month ago and for the most part my car has been good to me. Thinking about the 370z, I came from a couple of 350zs before my first Mini.
|
Nice! I just bought mine last week, if you are not afraid to get your hands dirty I don't see any reason not to keep it. I mainly bought it for the MPG and it's small and compact. Leaving my gas guzzlers at home is nice.

Going to a Honda CR-V. 32 mpg, and room to carry my new child thats on the way! Got $13.5k for it. Good enough for me. I liked the Mini, just never loved it. Won't miss the rattles, that's for certain!

Hope you enjoy driving your new appliance.
Just shoot me now... |
Congrat's on the child on the way. The CRV is a great vehicle. We had a '99 that my wife drove from new, that I inherited and my son eventually inherited before he bought his Clubman S. My parents have owned two of them. Just to let you have a glimps of your future, when our son was born 25 yrs ago and our daughter 4 yrs later, we moved from a an 84 Accord 5sp to an 88 Dodge Caravan, to a 92 E150 conversion van to a 2002 TrailBlazer to the CX9. Coming full circle, now my wife is thinking 335i or A4 has her next ride. The minivan / SUV years are only temporary and not so bad, considering the kids come with it.

Well, my passenger window only works seasonally still. |
tons of issues with a decent amount of 07 and 08 1 yr 2nd gens .. i can understand, but i disagree, dont know about down by you but up here id haateee to be associated with the honda crowd. congrats !!!

Then you should probably never own a Ferrari, or a Porsche... They are expensive, and fragile, and driving them is almost the most fun you can have with your pants on.
And I think you are kidding yourself about ANY new car not having problems, let alone 150K miles of trouble free driving. |
Mazda makes great cars, don't get me wrong, but after watching that Ferris Bueller commercial the CR-V looks like the kind of car you buy when you've given up on enjoying cars. Sure you get reliability, but you sacrifice any enjoyment. I drove the new Mazda 6 a couple months ago as a rental, and after having owned the previous gen 626 for seven years, all I can say is, "What a giant, boring, piece of junk."
|
^^^I'm with you. I think nowadays, all newer cars exhibit issues. All the electronics in place and the lighter weight to increase gas mileage all contribute to issues.
I had to sell my mother's 2001 CRV with only 35K on it and it had rattles and felt very cheap. I'll stick with my Mini. |
I feel like this was a "good riddance" post more than anything hahaha
|
Who are you kidding ?? the CR-V is 100x more fun then a MINI :sly::sly: .. you NAM people are crazy :lol:
Seriously though ...no way a cr-v is more fun. |

Like the one poster stated - you will be back to fun cars after the mini-van child-raising years. That's where we are at now - and even if we buy a larger car in the future - our pretty stock drive-train MINI will be in the stable forever.:thumbsup: |

Consider the Suzuki SX4. Has the ride of the CR-V and the (nearly) handling
of the MINI. Not yours of course with all those mods I mean a normal one. |

It's pretty bad how many people are trying to make the former owner feel like crap over his CR-V purchase. Not everyone can tolerate the bugs 'n' quirks that often rear their head in the MINI world. Some people can tolerate it (and afford it) better than others. Good luck man!
